Good Monday Morning – May 16, 2022

….waking up to grey skies

When I woke up the day didn’t look too promising, especially for getting out for a long walk. I quickly got dressed and headed out the door to get a few steps in before the rain started. I managed to complete a few chores in the backyard as well, like putting away the yard waste bags so they wouldn’t get drenched before garbage day, and cleaning out the wasp trap and filling the bird feeder. Here are a few photos I took on my short walk.

About mid-morning the rain started and I drove my husband to the clinic for his bi-monthly shot. On the way back we stopped at the store to replenish our milk, egg, fruit and cheese supplies. Once we got back home we made our first meal of the day.

The rain hasn’t amounted to much so far and it looks like it may have stopped for the day. I might be able to get out for another walk after all but in the meantime I have some paintings to finish. I’m starting to feel better about getting ready for my solo art show at the end of June.

Whatsoever is Lovely …..week 16….Spending 24 Days With our Granddaughter

….thanks to Kate from for hosting Whatsoever is Lovely https://www.thesquirrelchase.com/2022/04/27/whatsoever-is-lovely-2022-week-16/

Our trip to Europe, France and London to be exact, was a blessing because we got to spend every day with our youngest granddaughter. Sevin is just two so of course there were moments when everything wasn’t sunshine and lollipops but for the most part we loved spending time with her and now that we are back home she asks her parents where are Oma and Big Papa.

Christmas Baking in March

….I finally got to use all the icing and decorations that I bought in December

Last Christmas our granddaughter from New Brunswick was suppose to come and visit with her Mom and Dad. With the emergence of the new Omicron strain they decided to play it safe and stayed home. In the meantime I went to Bulk Barn and loaded up on icing pouches, sprinkles, mini candies and peanut butter chips because Winnie had requested that we make cookies together.

Last week they finally found some time to visit and they flew to Toronto for four days. Out came the cookie mix, the cookie cutters and all the icing and decorations. It was so much fun until Oma, that’s me, ate the broken hand that fell off the Santa cookie. I was in so much trouble but luckily the trauma passed quickly but I’m not sure that I’ve been completely forgiven. Ouch!

College Royal and Tonguely

Tonguely’s been MIA for awhile on this blog

This weekend is the annual College Royal Open House at the University of Guelph. This is where my husband, Kevin and I first met. I was a student and he was visiting a friend who lived next door to me. We hooked up pretty quickly and he enrolled in the university the following semester. College Royal was always one of our favourite activities. We both belonged to a drama club, Curtain Call, that put on student written and produced shows every year during College Royal. Every year Collage Royal attracts about 30 000 visitors. https://www.collegeroyalsociety.com/

Now, as for Tonguely he seems to be missing. We’re pretty sure he wants to be there. Hope he’s not getting into any trouble.

A Winter Wonderland In March

….after yesterdays gently falling snow

The snow had completely melted from everyone’s properties, the roads and sidewalks were clear and then this happened. For most of the day the temperatures were hovering just above freezing and even though it had been snowing for hours most of it melted when it hit the ground. Later in the day the temperature dropped to just below freezing and the snow started to stick to everything. There was no wind. Driving home from a shopping trip I felt like I had been transported into a magical winter village. Before going into the house I took a stroll up the street and took a few photos.

Whatsoever is Lovely – Week 9

thanks to Xingfu Mama for hosting Whatsoever is Lovely https://xingfumama.blog/2022/03/06/whatsoever-is-lovely-challenge-2022-week-9/

The temperatures are rising, the snow is melting and the sun is shining. Sure signs that spring is around the corner. I know that there is still a chance of more snow to come, especially since March came in like a lamb.

Walking in -13 Degree Weather

surprisingly pleasant

Last week the temperatures dipped well below zero but the sun was shining and winds were minimal. I put on a pair of long johns, my big blue parka, my scarf, hat and my warmest mitts and off I went. I was surprisingly warm. I invested in a good pair of winter hiking boots a few years ago and I’ve never experienced cold feet.

I kept my phone in the pocket of my coat and I worried that the cold might affect the battery but I was able to take a lot of photos and it held up well against the cold. Here are a few shots of things that I saw on my walk that day. Enjoy!
