A Busy Day at the Feeder

the day before our first big snowfall

Birds and squirrels must know when they need to stock up on their food intake. It was a crazy day at the bird feeder and between the birds and the tree rats (my husband’s name for squirrels) the feeder and seeds around the feeder quickly disappeared.

Life in Colour Challenge – Black or Grey

….thanks to Jude for hosting the Life in Colour Challenge https://traveltalk.me.uk/2021/11/07/life-in-colour-32/

Black or grey are technically not colours and the challenge is not to post black and white photos but objects that are black or grey in a colourful world.

Sunday Stills: Fur and Feathers

With the time change Frances’ schedule is all out of whack today. When she started to cry at 4:00 this afternoon I couldn’t figure out why and then I realized that her internal clock was telling her it was dinner time. I decided to distract her a bit and I took her for a walk for as long and far as she would let me. As she approaches 15 years of age her walks are getting shorter all the time.

Lashing Rain and Visitors to My Yard Today

made a To Do List today and listed 12 jobs

The rain came down so heavily today that I figured it was a good day to do things around the house. One of the first things I did was go through my closet and dresser and pull out most of my summer clothes. After I removed some sweaters and long sleeved shirts from my storage bins I replaced them with the summer things.

I managed to complete 10 of the 12 jobs that I posted. Looking out my back door earlier today I noticed that there was a lot of activity on my deck and around the bird feeder. I guess squirrels and birds have to eat even in the rain.

A while back, I had stopped using my Panasonic Lumix camera because of a problem. I really thought it was toast but after discussing the issues with Cee she went to the Panasonic website and she suggested that I put all the settings back to the factory settings it came with. Success!!! That small change did the trick. The following photos were taken with the telephoto lens on the Panasonic through a glass door.

….sculptures from the Sculpture Garden at the McMichael Gallery

Andrea petting the ears of this wolf sculpture.

Mary Anne Barkhouse (born 1961) and Michael Belmore (born 1971), lichen, 1998
In this work, the artists address issues of nature versus culture. The role of wolves in this setting is symbolic. They are positioned like silent sentinels.

The following sculptures are all part of the Sculpture Garden which was established in 2011. The nine sculptures, donated by well known Canadian artist Ivan Eyre, is part of the McMichael’s permanent collection. Eyre is perhaps best known for his large landscapes and mythological paintings.

TGIFFF – Tonguely Doesn’t Want to Get Out of Bed and Fishy Friday is Back

….all this rain is keeping poor Tonguely in bed and as a special request Kevin has resurrected Fishy Friday (for now anyway)

I thought frogs liked the rain. It seems that Tonguely has other ideas and would rather stay under the covers. I can’t say I blame him.

One of my blogging friends asked me if Kevin ever drew fish. I totally forgot that he started with fish long before Monster Monday and Wacky Bird Wednesday. To my surprise he drew a new fish. So here it is Judy, just for you.

Our Old Trusted Friend

….on this day, August 26, International Dog Day I am dedicating this page to Frances

Frances came into our lives over 14 years ago when she was only two months old. My husband has always said the she is the best dog he’s ever owned. I say he because Frances is truly my husband’s dog but in the last few years when her energy levels dropped and she was only interested in short walks I’ve become the dog walker in the family.
