Of all the places I’ve visited the place I’d like to return to is Venice. I loved everything about it.

Last week my daughters and I took a break from city life and spent four days at the cottage with our dogs. Frances (my dog) and Olive get along very well despite the large age difference (10 years). I’m very much a water person and love living by large bodies of water, both at home and the cottage. The cottage is on Christian Island in Georgian Bay which is part of Lake Huron. We had a wonderful time swimming, playing with the dogs and trying to put together an impossible 1000 piece puzzle of the moon.
During our stay these two lovely ladies put together the new barbecue while I read the instructions. After it was completed Josie made us a fabulous dinner on the barbecue. I do all my cooking outdoors when I’m at the cottage. Great food, lots of wine and spirits (but not too much) and time spent with friends and family; I can’t imagine a better way to ‘take a break’.

When it was all over Frances needed ‘a break’ from all that running and playing on the beach. She is after all 12 1/2.
….thanks to Becky B for hosting the month long challenge, July Blues
I’ve been off and on to the cottage this month and it makes it difficult to post daily because I have no electricity or internet access. So I’ve saved up a batch of blue photos to share with you. The challenge is now over but Becky has compiled a gallery of blue photos that she’s worked hard to put together. Go check it out.

….no snow…don’t worry
Here in the west end of Toronto we have a park and a ski hill that was built entirely with garbage. It’s a wonderful place with soccer fields, baseball diamonds, a track and field stadium, walking paths, picnic areas, a go carting facility, a golf course and yes a ski hill.
My husband is coaching a group of boys to help them with their physical endurance and running skills. Last week I decided to join him and we drove to Centennial Hill together. Rather than sit around I decided to go for a walk and I climbed the hill alongside the ski ramp. It was nice and shady and I could stop and rest on the ramp when I needed to.

At the top of the hill I had a wonderful view of the next city, Mississauga and the Toronto airport from one side and the park further along the ridge.

Inside dinosaur eggs, chairs, benches, steps, stools, giant Muskoka chairs and electric scooters all make wonderful seats to rest our bodies.

A few weeks ago my son and I took a day trip to Sparrow Lake Camp in Gravenhurst. Our daughter and her family are living up there for the summer and it was our only opportunity for Brendan to see his twin sister before returning to London, England.
The staff was busy getting the camp ready for the first group of boys and girls who arrived earlier this week. We enjoyed a day of hiking and playing and some of the braver souls went for a swim.
….thanks to Kammie for hosting the Odd Ball Challenge
You can find all kinds of odd things in the sand and sometimes your 3 1/2 year old granddaughter asks you to take some odd ball photos of her snack and of her unusual attire upon her head.
