Some lovely places to rest when you visit the Centennial Park Conservatory.

…thanks to Sue W. and GC for hosting Weekly Prompts https://weeklyprompts.com/2023/01/04/weekly-prompts-wednesday-challenge-resolutions/
Every year I find myself making the same resolutions….lose weight, continue to walk daily, eat healthy. This year I’m going to add two more resolutions. Make art at least weekly and visit my family in New Brunswick and in London once or twice. Of course making resolutions doesn’t work if you don’t have a plan to meet your goals.
For Christmas I received a new Fitbit so sticking to my plan of walking at least 10 000 steps a day makes that goal easier to track. My course of action is to try and get out before noon for a walk with my camera, walk instead of driving to shop at the top of the street and when I do need to use the car park as far from the entrance as possible.

I already eat pretty healthy. I just need to stop snacking in the evenings. To do this I’m going to make art in my studio or read a book in a room away from the kitchen. In the past I resolved to make art every day but I found that goal was unattainable. Instead I’m looking to work at my art table at least once a week. I’ve also signed up to do another solo show in May so I’m motivated to make more art.

I always find it helpful to post a photo of me so I have a before photo. Not the most attractive photo but it was taken a few days ago. It clearly reminds me of how I need to make better food choices and stop eating in the evening.

So far 2023 has been very wet. Lots of rain and mild temperatures. I know lots of people prefer this to colder temperatures and snow but I am not one of them. Give me a day with big fluffy snow flakes and brisk temperatures in January. Come March I will start to look forward to the weather we have now but give me some winter first.

…the New Year has not started out well for long walks
I ventured out into the backyard to see if I could find some interesting textures. It’s quite amazing how green everything is for January. I tried to go for a walk later in the afternoon but it really started to rain very steadily so I turned around and headed back to the house.
I’ve also been trying to rid the house of sweets. Somethings I just can’t bring myself to throw away but luckily many of them are wrapped and I’m less likely to binge on things that I have to unwrap. I love how cellophane reflects light and the candy cane topping has wonderful texture. The foil wrapped candy suggests that the candy inside has texture as well and it doesn’t disappoint.

…last minute shopping and getting ready for the upcoming storm has made this post late….again
Every Christmas for at least 20 years I have put these paper fans on my tree. I love them. I fold them up to store them and then open them to put on the tree. The three wooden forest gnomes are also favourites that I have had for many years and they always find a special place in our home at Christmas.

Do you have any favourite trios to share? I’d love to see them. Copy my link and paste it into your post and I’ll be sure to leave a comment.
…thanks to Sue W. and GC for the prompt ‘wish’ https://weeklyprompts.com/2022/12/17/weekly-prompts-weekend-challenge-wish/
What do you wish for this time of year? Presents, time with the family, solitude, Peace, good health…..?
My wish for all is whatever brings you happiness. Presents are nice and I love to give them but the other things on my list are more important to me. I loved spending time with my granddaughters and my family this year. That was my number one wish in 2022.
