…..despite the icy temperatures yesterday I ventured down to lake
I never tire of seeing the swans. Yesterday I brought with me the telephoto lens that fits onto my iPhone. I’m not sure I really needed it but I wanted to get as close as possible without scaring them off.

Today we woke up to grey skies and soon after it started to snow. Later in the afternoon the sun came out but it was short lived as a north west wind blew through bringing with it a blustery storm. I couldn’t believe how quickly the weather changed.
This is the view from our daughter’s house in Hamilton.
Fortunately the blizzard only lasted about 10 minutes and once again the sun came out and so did my smile. Here are a few shots of blue sky, the sun and a trumpet of swans that reappeared when the weather changed. All things that bring a smile to my face after this long weird winter and quirky start to spring.

The sun has come out and the temperatures have climbed well above freezing for more than a week now and it looks like will continue for another week or more. On Sunday my husband and I drove to High Park and took a nice long walk in the off leash area where dogs and their owners can walk, run and play. Earlier in the day I walked in the neighbourhood, where I also came across some dogs and lots of swans.
In High Park there were a lot more people and dogs and the walk was quite challenging due to the steep hill at the end of the walk. When you start downhill you know that at some point you have to go up again.

The first day of fall is only one day away, September 22. You would hardly know that by the clothes people wear to work and out on the street. Sandals, shorts and sleeveless tops and dresses are still the norm. Even the evenings are still pleasantly warm.
Today I witnessed sailboats out on the lake in the late afternoon hours and the swans, geese and ducks are in no hurry to fly south. There are signs, though, that autumn is close at hand. The leaves are starting to change colour, many flowers are starting to whither, plants are going to seed and bushes are ripe with red and purple berries.
