Contrasting colours or complementary colours are opposite each other on the colour wheel. They are often used in costumes and uniforms because together the colours really stand out. The following are examples of complementary colours: purple and yellow, red and green and orange and blue.

All these windows are in London, England. They start at Heathrow Airport and include Buckingham Palace, storefronts, museums, churches and the train station.

The pathways here are from the neighbourhood, at Highgate Cemetery in London, Kensington Gardens in London, an autumn path along the Lakeshore, a path through the garden at Montgomery’s Inn, a path to a neighbour’s house on Hallowe’en and a path through the woods when we were ‘hunting’ for the perfect Christmas tree.

Nancy’s photo of a broken down wall in the middle of nature reminded my of the lighthouse keeper’s old home on Christian Island. The lighthouse has been automated for years and the home is a pile of rubble where nature has take over. Trees are literally growing out of the centre of the stone cottage.
