A Bright Idea in the Park
….thanks to Becky B for hosting BrightSquare this month https://beckybofwinchester.com/2021/04/03/bright-square-3/
Since I missed yesterday I have two for today.
Camping in the local parks is prohibited but these girls were merely sheltering themselves from the cold wind coming off the lake. I knew there were girls in the tent from from all the chatter and giggles I heard as I walked by with my dog.

Seeing this swarm of seagulls over that bright blue water of Lake Ontario was a bright spot in my day.

Monday Window – Humber College -South Campus
….this is all about the old vs the new
Most of the buildings on the south campus of Humber College are from the late 18th century when the grounds were the Psychiatric Hospital. Originally built as a branch of the Toronto Asylum for the Insane, the hospital officially opened its doors in 1890 as the Mimico Asylum — the first such institution in Canada to be built on the cottage system. After the hospital closed in 1979 the buildings stood empty and in 1988 it was declared a heritage site.
When Humber signed a 99-year lease for the land and buildings in 1991, it began a complete restoration of the cottage buildings. Today the buildings have been restored to their original beauty and serve as classrooms and studios for the students. In between some of the old building a few new modern structures have been built. It’s a nice contrast between new and old.

Sculpture Saturday – March 20, 2021
…some wonderful finds in High Park, Toronto
Today was another beautiful day in Toronto; sunny and warm (for March) and the paths and roads were dry and clear of ice and snow. I was in search of the red tail hawk that I saw last week but I saw no signs of him. Instead I spent the two hours taking photos of trees, squirrels, broken bits of picnic tables, stadium lights, fences and birds. On my travels throughout the park I came across some lovely sculptures a statue and a memorial stone cross.

Today in High Park the squirrels were out and about, running up and down trees and through the tall grasses. I had my telephoto lens with me and was able to capture these beauties.
