Cee’s Which Way Photo Challenge – A Gift at the End of the Road

……thanks to Cee for hosting the Which Way Photo Challenge

Now that spring is finally here, I’m back out for my walks. I headed towards the parks west of my house to see what kind of damage the recent wind storm had caused. Fortunately most of the debris and downed trees had already been cleared away.

As I continued toward the pond I was treated to a wonderful gift.

Roda’s Critter Connection – April 30, 2018

…..thanks to Roda for the hosting the Critter Connection

The swans today were very friendly and came right up to the edge of the beach. Of course when there’s food involved it’s not hard to entice them. I just wish that people gave more thought to what they feed the birds and more importantly teach their children that certain foods, like potato chips, can make birds sick. No kidding….when I got closer I saw what I thought was bread was actually potato chips.

Also these children were pretty young and they were very close to these big birds. I wonder if the parents know how nasty swans can get.P1060066

Birds by the Lake

….most stay all year

Even though many birds migrate south in the fall, here in Toronto many of these migrating birds stay here all winter long. Now that the weather is starting to warm up and the sun has reappeared (although today is grey and raining) the swans, Canada geese and gulls happily go about their day and don’t seem to mind the close proximity of people, in fact some love the extra attention.

365 Days of Art – More One-liners Transformed

…day 82

I keep adding more colour, collage, line detail and background marks to my one-liner birds. I also added two new characters that I borrowed from Eva Ucgatwork. I love expressions and how they appear to be in awe of these strange looking birds.IMG_1447

Share Your World – April 23, 2018

…..thanks to Cee for coming up with great questions each and every week for Share Your World

If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you get?

My answer is pretty close to Cee’s . I love cheese and dark chocolate and then a nice red wine to go with it.

List at least five movies or books that cheer you up.

The Wizard of Oz, Forrest Gump, Life of Pi, Up, Bridget Jone’s Diary, Mama Mia

If you were a mouse in your house in the evening, what would you see your family doing?

After dinner a mouse (me) would see us sitting in the living room watching TV. After a couple of hours my husband would go to his meditation room and meditate and do yoga and then get ready for bed. I, on the other hand, would sit in front of my computer and read some emails , read a book and/or work at my art table and produce some art. This seems to be the time when I’m most productive and often stay up till 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Last week I saw my father off to the airport. He flew to Germany to visit his brother. When he called on the weekend I was so happy for him because I could tell that he was having a wonderful time.IMG_0257 On Thursday I drove to Hamilton to spend the day with my daughter and granddaughter. We did a little shopping but mostly we played in the playroom. On Friday I printed Snoopy designs onto the front of six t-shirts that the family wore to our family lunch on Saturday.

The lunch on Saturday was a lovely casual affair and because the weather was so nice we went for a long walk to the park down the street and followed the Heritage Trail. The trail meanders through the park and past numerous marinas. We ended up at a cute little playground where Winnie wandered around and tried out the various pieces of playground equipment.2_BC9_E883_A711_4989_992_B_1_BB6_EC3_ECBB1

Second Project of Part 2

….day 80 of 365 Days of Art

For the Tape n’Stuff assignment that Carla Sonheim gave us I made two backgrounds. Yesterday I posted the first one here where I explained the process for this project.

Here is my second attempt at this unusual assignment.

365 Days of Art – Part 2 of Tape n’Stuff

…..day 79

I went back to some of the one-liner birds that I had done and decided to redraw two of them onto the taped and collaged background that I created yesterday. After I lightly drew the shape onto the collaged surface I took acrylic white paint and filled in the shape. After it dried completely I used a Koi Colouring Brush Pen in black and outlined the shape and added a few details. I then applied some water with a brush to the black marks to soften them and create shadow.

Here is the first completed piece:

365 Days of Art – Enhancing My One-liners

…..day 75

Back in January, Carla Sonheim gave us an assignment to create multiple one-liners of birds, cats, flowers, houses or anything that tickled our fancy. I started them in a brand new sketch book and I’ve done some things since that I’m quite proud of. The one-liners, however, didn’t thrill me. On the first page I had drawn five different birds and every time I open the book that is the first thing I see. Today I decided to enhance or edit those birds. I should have taken a photo of the whole page before I made the changes but I didn’t. Going back through my photographs I did find one of the birds from a similar page. Here it is:

I’m much happier with my new rendition.
