College Royal and Tonguely

Tonguely’s been MIA for awhile on this blog

This weekend is the annual College Royal Open House at the University of Guelph. This is where my husband, Kevin and I first met. I was a student and he was visiting a friend who lived next door to me. We hooked up pretty quickly and he enrolled in the university the following semester. College Royal was always one of our favourite activities. We both belonged to a drama club, Curtain Call, that put on student written and produced shows every year during College Royal. Every year Collage Royal attracts about 30 000 visitors. https://www.collegeroyalsociety.com/

Now, as for Tonguely he seems to be missing. We’re pretty sure he wants to be there. Hope he’s not getting into any trouble.

Thursday Trios – March 17, 2022

….more trios from nature and one surprise

Sorry I’m a day late. I was having issues uploading my photos yesterday. I you’d like to share some photos of trios, I’d love to see them. Copy my link and paste it into your post. I’ll get a pingback and I’ll be sure to leave a comment.

A Winter Wonderland In March

….after yesterdays gently falling snow

The snow had completely melted from everyone’s properties, the roads and sidewalks were clear and then this happened. For most of the day the temperatures were hovering just above freezing and even though it had been snowing for hours most of it melted when it hit the ground. Later in the day the temperature dropped to just below freezing and the snow started to stick to everything. There was no wind. Driving home from a shopping trip I felt like I had been transported into a magical winter village. Before going into the house I took a stroll up the street and took a few photos.

Day 8 – Painting Over and Trying Again

….to post or not to post

When a piece of art doesn’t work do you own up to it and post it anyway? Since I’m on this Daily Art Challenge for March I feel like I’m being dishonest when I don’t talk about my failed pieces. I seem to be in a rut right now. Nothing I do seems to work. I’ve painted over this one piece now three times. If it doesn’t work this time I think I need to start fresh and put this piece aside.

I wanted to paint using bright and cheery colours but it just didn’t work for me. I’m better off painting intuitively. Here is where it started and how I repainted over it this morning. No guarantees that this is going to work.

Wishing the World Peace and Harmony

….difficult to paint when I’m seeing so many negative images on TV

I continue make art every day but on Day 6 of my March Art Challenge I needed some positive symbols of peace. For my warm-up activity I found these Chinese characters of Peace and Harmony.

Macro Monday – Diving into the Evergreens

On one of my walks this weekend I discovered that there were some interesting macro shots amidst the branches of the evergreens that I passed. I walked over patches of ice and mud to get a closer look. Here’s what I found.
