Walking in -13 Degree Weather

surprisingly pleasant

Last week the temperatures dipped well below zero but the sun was shining and winds were minimal. I put on a pair of long johns, my big blue parka, my scarf, hat and my warmest mitts and off I went. I was surprisingly warm. I invested in a good pair of winter hiking boots a few years ago and I’ve never experienced cold feet.

I kept my phone in the pocket of my coat and I worried that the cold might affect the battery but I was able to take a lot of photos and it held up well against the cold. Here are a few shots of things that I saw on my walk that day. Enjoy!

Christmas Doors in Niagara-on-the-Lake

….thanks to Dan from No Facilities for hosting Thursday Doors https://nofacilities.com/2021/12/02/random-duluth-doors/

Walking through the neighbourhoods in Niagara-on-the-Lake this time of year is like being in a Hallmark Christmas movie.

Photographing Public Art Challenge – #19

thanks to Cee for hosting PPAC this week https://ceenphotography.com/2021/10/22/ppac-19/

On a trip today to Guelph we ventured over to the Arboretum. It was just underway when I went to school there, some 50 years ago so many of the trees are now very mature. The colours were beautiful but to my surprise there were numerous and interesting statues and sculptures on the grounds. Here are just a few.

Pull Up a Seat – October 16, 2021

Going for a walk through the Lady Eaton Drumlin in Peterborough, next to the university, was beautiful and very much uphill until it was time to come back down. Thank goodness for some rest spots. Although a bit wonky and worn they did the trick.

Last Day of Summer – Sept. 20, 2021

…..enjoying a warm and sunny day at Marie Curtis Park

Today we experienced a nice warm summer day; the last one of the season. Normally this time of year the average temperature is about 20 degrees celsius but we hit 23 and people definitely took advantage of it.

When I arrived at the park school had just dismissed its students and I noticed several children were in the playground and splash pad. Cyclists, senior citizens and dog walkers were also enjoying this great weather.
