Brick Lane is a famous street in the East End of London. If you’re a fan of graffiti and street art, then you’re in the right place – Brick Lane is famous for it. It has a large population of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi immigrants and if you’re after a good curry this is the neighbourhood to travel to.

They may not be mountain peaks but these spires, monuments and cranes look like peaks from a distance and certainly ‘peak’ your attention.

We’re coming up to our 49th wedding anniversary and I still get a thrill of going out on dates and travelling with Kevin.

In London you can’t help but see the Thames if you travel south to the downtown area and if you’re crossing a bridge it is more than likely across the Thames.

…art made with textiles has the most amazing textures
On our recent trip to London, we stopped at the Barbican to see the show, Unravel: The Power of Politics of Textiles in Art. The first thing we saw was the exterior of the gallery cloaked in fabric.

Inside the gallery over 100 artists had works of textile art on display. Many of the pieces were very textural which was quite evident from a distance and others made for wonderful close-up shots of the detail in the pieces.

As many of you know I was away for close to a month to travelling throughout the Uk. The main reason for going was to spend time with our son and his family who live in London, England. We started our trip in Edinburgh and Dundee, Scotland because our son had to travel to the V&A Dundee for an opening of a new show. It was wonderful spending time with him and learning about the installation that he was responsible for. There was also another brand new opening and we were invited to attend this event. It was called Kimono: From Kyoto to Catwalk.

After our time in Dundee, our son took the train with us to London, where we spent the the next 16 days sightseeing and spending time with the family. Sevin is now four and attending Nursery and will be starting school in September. We loved spending time with her in the evenings and on the weekends.

…thanks to Becky B for hosting the Square challenge this past month https://thesquaresofb.com/2024/05/31/squares-renew-31/
I’m sad to have missed most of this challenge. I found it too difficult to post photos on my holiday in the UK. So on the last day of the challenge I’m submitting some square photos of burgeoning proportions.
