365 Days of Art – More Quirky Creatures
….days 163, 164 and 165
Carla Sonheim had us make our own sidewalk cracks using a recipe that she devised. I tried making one in London and from that I looked for a critter or animal that I could cut out and fill in with marks and colour. From one sheet of paper I managed to find two ‘abstract’ animals. One is a dog of sorts and the other a sitting elephant.
I’m really enjoying sketching with graphite pencils and blending stumps. I’ve also been inspired by Sophie Favre’s clay sculptures that I saw in London and I created a mouse using her style.
Word of the Day Challenge – Leisure
….if you’d like to participate in the challenge the word is leisure
Children and dogs really know how to relax and enjoy some leisure time.
One Word Photo Challenge – Rhinoceros
….thanks to Tourmaline for hosting the One Word Challenge
Rhinoceros?!!! Who has photos of rhinos? I’ve never been on safari but I have been to the zoo and I just happen to have some heavy duty back end shots of these magnificent creatures.

Developing More Characters
….days 141 to 143 of 365 Days of Art
Over the long weekend I was totally engrossed in creating these collage characters made from art papers. The first thing I had to do was create more art paper because I had left my collage papers at home. Out came the watercolour paper and my watercolour set and I went to town.
Once they dried I cut out random shapes in different sizes and then I started to play. Here are three more ‘characters’ that I created from the cut out shapes.

Word of the Day Challenge – Energetic
….thanks to Word of the Day for hosting this challenge
What’s more energetic than a 1 1/2 year old puppy? Maybe a 2 1/2 year old toddler.
My Backyard Visitor
….we’ve either got a lot of rabbits in the neighbourhood or this little fellow gets around
They’re so cute but our garden is suffering. We’ve caught this little guy in the lettuce patch, nibbling the kale and completely destroying the bush beans at the back of the yard.
The one plant that he hasn’t destroyed is the yellow bean plant.
Cee’s Which Way Photo Challenge – July 13, 2018
….thanks to Cee for hosting the Which Way Photo Challenge
This poor little guy clearly didn’t know which way he should go.
