….with a last minute visitor
I focused on the centre of the flower so when the bee swooped in at the last possible second she was out of focus.

…..I can’t believe it but this will be the last photo challenge posted by WordPress
How do you choose your all time favourites from over 22 000 photos? I’ve managed to narrow it down to four but I’m sure that I’ll come across others that I like as much.

….this week’s theme for the weekly photo challenge is favourites
I had a hard time picking just one or two photos as my favourites for the year of 2107. I went through the year and categorized my photos into genres. My first post is of my favourite macro shots of bees and a butterfly.

…..the honeybees are working overtime

….the park surrounding Dundurn Castle in Hamilton
My granddaughter loves parks and the park surrounding the castle is one of her favourites. She calls it the dinosaur park because the climber has pictures of dinosaurs on it. She’s a great climber and loves the slides and swings. She made sure that her Papa got on a swing as well.
In the far corner of the grounds at Dundurn Castle there lies a large, old fashion garden with flowers, fruit trees and vegetables. Some of the produce is used in the kitchen at the castle and the rest is donated to the city food bank. Much of the produce is true to what was grown in the 19th century. The gardeners were very knowledgeable and wonderful to talk to. I learned a great deal.

It was another odd weather day. The morning started out sunny and then the clouds moved in. The rain came and went and then came again. The sun reappeared and then disappeared again. Did you know that honey bees take cover from the rain? I never really thought about it until I saw this little fellow today.

….whenever the opportunity arises I like to capture bees or wasps close up

….so nice seeing more and more but we’re not out the woods yet
Over the last few years scientists have been quite worried over the disappearance of bees and butterflies. This year they seem to have returned to our gardens.

….initially I too thought of swans when I saw the word graceful
