…another Wacky Bird for Wednesday, February 10
I think this is some kind of creative therapy for my husband. He loves making them and I love posting them. I think I’m his biggest fan.
…over the years I’ve played with one-liner portraits with limited success
One liner portraits literally involves drawing a face without lifting the pen off the paper. After doing that I added detail with paint and more mark making. These were a lot of fun to do and are somewhat similar to Picasso’s abstract portraits that made him famous.
….this week’s trios are some of my favourite art supplies, my granddaughter’s art, three vases that I made and my three favourite bears
If you have photos of anything with three subjects why not join the challenge. There are no rules as to size or format of the photo. They can be in colour or black and white and you have all week to enter. Just copy the link from this post and paste it into your submission and it will ping back to me. Have fun.
….thanks to Jude of Travel Words for hosting Life in Colour https://traveltalk.me.uk/2021/01/31/life-in-colour-5/
The colour for this month is brown. Brown is not the first colour that comes to mind for me but in my art I am appreciating this neutral colour more and more. In the family of browns one can find colours such as burnt sienna, raw sienna, burnt umber, chocolate brown, tan, beige, taupe, chestnut, russet, desert sand and beaver. Many of these browns are easily found in nature.
….two more intuitive abstract art pieces in my sketchbook
I’m experimenting with my intuitive paintings in my sketchbook. I find I’m less inhibited and am willing to take more chances with my mark making and use of colour than I would be if I used a good sheet of watercolour paper. I will definitely go back to watercolour paper at some point because the quality of the paper makes a difference to the final outcome as well.
