Another ‘Scary’ Monster

….oh no, are they too scary again?

Monday’s Monster Monday generated this response from our granddaughter, “That’s a scary monster.” A few weeks ago she didn’t want to look at the Monday drawings because she knew they were monsters and monsters are scary. We’ll see how she responds to next week’s drawing.

Moving On

….to lesson two

Here’s the last random collage from lesson one that I just finished. I may go back later and do a couple more but for now I’m satisfied with what I’ve accomplished and I am anxious the try my hand at ‘moon papers’. Don’t worry if you don’t know what that is. I’ll explain in the next post.

For this collage I started with the tree trunk. After much searching I found the illustration of the girl meditating and it went from there. I decided to try my hand at adding lines of stitching. I picked up this idea from Jill Kuhn who is also doing the class, 2019: A Year of Collage. Jill is a wonderful source of inspiration and constantly praises what I do. Thank you Jill.

“Is it a Choo Choo Squirrel?”

…..a what????

I find it fascinating what goes through the mind of a three year old. This drawing was meant to be a cat but I guess if you look at the background as being a tail it could be a squirrel. Where the ‘Choo, Choo’ comes in is beyond me.

There are days when I feel just like this ‘cat’; confused and bewildered by the state of the world.

365 Days of Art – More Quirky Creatures

….days 163, 164 and 165

Carla Sonheim had us make our own sidewalk cracks using a recipe that she devised. I tried making one in London and from that I looked for a critter or animal that I could cut out and fill in with marks and colour. From one sheet of paper I managed to find two ‘abstract’ animals. One is a dog of sorts and the other a sitting elephant.

I’m really enjoying sketching with graphite pencils and blending stumps. I’ve also been inspired by Sophie Favre’s clay sculptures that I saw in London and I created a mouse using her style.

Second Project of Part 2

….day 80 of 365 Days of Art

For the Tape n’Stuff assignment that Carla Sonheim gave us I made two backgrounds. Yesterday I posted the first one here where I explained the process for this project.

Here is my second attempt at this unusual assignment.

365 Days of Art – Day 29

….making up for my non-painting days

Carla Sonheim’s post the other day had us use the scraping method to make a random blob shape onto watercolour paper and then look for shapes or designs to bring out with marker. This was a lot of fun.

For some reason I saw birds and cats. I hate drawing cats, only because I don’t think I’m very good at it, so I did the two birds first. In the first blob I saw an eagle with a fish in his mouth and the second one was a random mythical bird with an angry look. Then I tackled the cat drawings. One is of a cat sleeping and the other is a cat from the back side.
