After making my handmade art journal I decided to fill it with drawings from Amy Maricle’s drawing challenge. Her process is very meditative and her emphasis is on moving slowly. I’m not very good at either but I love the process and I’m working on slowing down. Here are a few of the pages from my art journal.
….on day one I’ve started to draw from my new book In Bloom by Rachel Reinert
I’ve tried this before where I wanted to make art every day of the year. I made a lot but I didn’t quite hit 365 drawings in 2018. This year I won’t beat myself up if I miss a day or two but I’m going to give it another go. My husband gave me a book for Christmas that I asked for and today I cracked it open and drew the first two flowers featured in the book.
I’ve discovered over the years that I’m very much drawn to flowers in my photography and my art. I always believe there’s more to learn so I’m really looking forward to drawing and learning more about flowers.
….’it’s a hummingbird’
According to Winnie this is a hummingbird. It does have a long beak, I’ll give her that. We finally heard back on her reaction to this week’s Monster Monday. She declared that monsters visited her room and this one’s name was Fred.
….it’s a rabbit. Hooray!
I’m guessing that our granddaughter is liking the cute things over the scary ones.
….”It’s fishy Friday. Can I have some ice cream?”
I wish I could understand the thought processes of a three year old. Anyway here is Kevin’s contribution for Fishy Friday.
…Thursday’s drawing for Winnie was this crazy ‘eyed’ bird
Winnie’s response? “It’s a chicken!”
….oh no, are they too scary again?
Monday’s Monster Monday generated this response from our granddaughter, “That’s a scary monster.” A few weeks ago she didn’t want to look at the Monday drawings because she knew they were monsters and monsters are scary. We’ll see how she responds to next week’s drawing.
….welcome to Rabbit Sunday
This is the first rabbit for Winnie’s first Rabbit Sunday. When Winnie saw this she asked her mom why the rabbit was having a bad hair day.

Not sure where my granddaughter sees a duck but she is at the age where she likes to be contrary.
….a little under the weather so my husband missed a few drawing days
Today’s drawing would have been good for Weird Bird Wednesday but it was posted today. Winnie’s only comment today was that Sundays should be Sunday Rabbits. Kevin’s working on that.
