Love is in the Air

leading up to, on the day and the day after Valentine’s Day

Everywhere you look there are signs for this special day.

I’m not one for big, expensive fancy gifts. I’m more about the kind gestures and thoughtful cards with expressions of love. In the past my husband has hand painted me some fun cards. This year he posted a special card for our grandchildren. For me he made a very special dinner, with a cocktail before dinner and wine with dinner.

Weekly Prompts Colour Challenge – Purple

thanks to Sue W and GC for hosting Weekly Prompts https://weeklyprompts.com/2024/01/06/weekly-prompts-colour-challenge-purple-2/

I like purple but I have to admit that I am not drawn to it as a colour. Funny because our high school colours were purple and gold. When I think of purple I think of royalty and according to Kendra Cherry from VeryWell https://www.verywellmind.com/the-color-psychology-of-purple-2795820#toc-purple-meanings-and-associations, it can also represent spirituality, wealth, mystery, femininity and in the U.S., bravery and courage, i.e. the purple heart.

It is also not a commonly found colour in nature but I have managed to find a number of purple flowers. Going through my archive I’ve found the following purple objects.

A Great Way to End the Year

after weeks of dreary grey skies and drizzly weather, a trip to the Centennial Park Conservatory brightened my day

On New Years Eve I decided to check out the Christmas display at the conservatory before it was replaced with the next theme in the New Year. It was probably the busiest I’ve ever seen it. The feature display was filled with poinsettia of all different colours, sizes and shapes. Here are a few photos to wet your appetite.
