Pull Up a Seat – Week 1 of 2022

thanks to XingFu Mama for hosting Pull Up a Seat https://xingfumama.blog/2022/01/07/pull-up-a-seat-photo-challenge-2022-week-1/

Today has been the coldest day so far for 2022 or at least it seemed that way as I tried to take photos in High Park. In order to take photos it was necessary to remove my gloves and after about 20 minutes of taking them off and on to push the shutter button my fingers on my right hand were close to acquiring frost bite. I quickly returned to the car and place my hands over the heating vent after cranking up the heat full blast.

The cold, however, didn’t seem to deter some folks from finding a resting spot on some of the park benches. Here are a few of those brave souls.

Water, Water Everywhere – December 22, 2021

….it is now officially winter

The greyness of Lake Ontario, the choppy waters and the brisk wind leave no doubt that winter is upon us.

Lost #6

….no masks this time but lots of mittens and gloves

It seems now that the snow has melted there are numerous lost mittens and gloves. The stuffed toy may not have been lost but it certainly was misplaced when it ended up on top of the lighthouse structure. Some kind people have taken the lost items and placed them on tree branches so that people might see them as they walk by and hopefully retrieve what belongs to them.

Sunset – March 2, 2021

I don’t know if this is typical of a winter sunset

The saying goes ‘Red sky at night, sailor’s delight….red sky in the morning, sailor’s warning’.

I’m hoping that means that tomorrow will be a beautiful day but the sky almost looks ominous tonight. What do you think?

Monday Windows – March 1, 2021

thanks to Ludwig for hosting Monday Windows https://mondaywindow.wordpress.com/2021/03/01/monday-window-march-1-2021/

After doing a bit of shopping the other day I decided to drive down into Col. Sam Smith Park and go for a short of a walk. On my way back to the car I passed the outdoor skating rink. Even though we’ve experienced some pretty mild temperatures the rink was still operational because of the pipes under the ice.

In Toronto if you want to skate in one of the city ice rinks you have to book a time so that the area doesn’t become overwhelmed with too many people. A booth is set up outside the old Power Plant where you can sign in. The building itself is closed now during COVID but is used as a community centre.
