Lens Artist Photo Challenge – Summer
….thanks to Amy for hosting this week’s Lens Artist Photo Challenge
Summer is different this year. So far I’ve spent all of it in the city. I miss the Island and hope to get up there soon.
Even lawn bowling looks different this year.

Note to Self – A Guide to Self Preservation in my Senior Years
I think I may print this and post it where I can see it every day as a friendly reminder to myself to not go down the rabbit hole of ‘Senior Entitlement’. Truly wise words to anyone who is approaching or is already in their Golden Years.
Often, we read about people writing to their younger selves, sharing advice they wish they had known in their earlier years. This is done in the hopes that another younger person may read it & benefit from this sage advice. An attempt to somehow lessen the stress & self-doubt a younger person feels as they move forward in life.
This got me to thinking.
At the age of 54, based on my life experience to date, what advice would I deliver to myself in my senior years? If I had the chance to have a conversation with my older self, what nuggets of knowledge would I feel it necessary to share?
Hopefully one of my kids will have tucked this away in a safe place, waiting for the appropriate time to present me with my own words of advice. Lord knows, I won’t be able to find it anywhere & I…

Day 4 – Looking Down on the Cat
…thanks to Becky B for hosting the Square Perspective Challenge
For the month of July, Becky B is challenging all of us to take square photos that highlight ‘perspective’. Yesterday’s entry, that I’m posting today, is a cat taken taken from above. I was hoping he would look up at me but I had to be satisfied with his back.

Friendly Friday – Nostalgia
…thanks to Amanda for hosting this week’s Friendly Friday
Everyone once in awhile Facebook or my Photo Stream appear on my phone and remind me of events that took place in the past. It seems that I have done a most of my travelling in July which isn’t really unusual because the summer was the only time I could get away as a teacher.
Here are a few of my favourite moments from the past.
My husband when I first met him in 1972.
Our daughter’s wedding day, 9/10/11

Hiking up the cliff side in Houth, Ireland 2011

Can you believe this is the same guy but 30 years younger?

My Dad meeting his first great grandchild, Winnie.

At Andrea’s and Josie’s wedding

Travelling with our daughter and granddaughter in Italy, July 2016

The family at Azadeh’s and Brendan’s wedding in Assisi, July 2016

Venice with my husband in July 2020

Gaelan, Winnie and me in Florence in July 2020

Visiting Brendan and Azadeh in London with the girls, 2018

Cee’s Friday Funny Finds – June 26, 2020
…thanks to Cee for hosting Friday Funny Finds
My 4 1/2 year old granddaughter is writing a book about pirates. When I asked her who the main characters were she told me Captain Raw Salmon and Captain Wasabi. Have you guessed that she loves sushi.
I told her I would try to come up with some sketches of these two characters. Here is my first attempt.

When I inquired further about the story line I was told it included Purple Palm trees, jungles, swimming snakes, a jaguar and a treasure chest. Oh I almost forgot….biting crabs.

When she saw the drawings I asked her if there was anything else I should add. She told me to send them to her and she would add more detail. Not sure if that is a compliment or a not. I love four year olds.
Friendly Friday – Summer Traditions
,,,thanks to Sandy for hosting this week’s Friendly Friday Photo Challenge
Summer traditions may be on hold this year as we’re still not allowed to go to the cottage. Hopefully we’ll hear in the next few days when Christian Island opens up to lessee holders. When it does there will be quite a few restrictions, like no friends and only immediate family will be allowed on the ferry.
Having said that we’re still able to barbeque in the backyard and go for walks through the parks. Some of these photos are from years past.
