…went into the archives for these

If you have any trios to share I’d love to see them. Just copy my link and paste it into your post. I will get a pingback. Thanks.
…first post in six days
I have not vanished off the face of the Earth or gone down some rabbit whole that I can’t get out of. Instead I have been missing in action due to the worst cold I’ve had in years. It has literally kept me in bed or on the couch. Yesterday was the first day I ventured outside and that was to the pharmacy to fill a prescription.
I did try to check my emails but even that became a chore, especially when my computer told me that I had no room left to run any programs. I tried to delete some non-essential programs but even that became problematic and I feared that I was going to delete something essential.
Anyway, I hope to get back into the groove and start posting again soon. I’m currently planning for a trip to the UK at the end of this month so I need to stay healthy and try to get over this nagging cough. Hope everyone is healthy and happy, especially now that spring is officially here and better days are ahead.
Love

My husband, granddaughters and fun bits of art always make me smile.

…and my husband pointed out that we’ve around for over half of them
I attended the University of Guelph from 1971-75 and I met my husband Kevin there in 1973. College Royal is the annual open house that the university hosts in March. Many of the departments open their doors with displays and interactive demonstrations that highlight some of the work that goes on in the halls of academia.
One of the more popular attractions is the farming area that bring the public and farm animals together. The University of Guelph started out as an agricultural school but quickly brought in other avenues of study, such as Family Studies, veterinary studies, economics, hotel and food administration, visual arts, sciences, just to name a few.

The last two photos show the cow that has had a portal surgically placed in her side to remove rumen from one of her stomachs. The rumen has healthy bacteria that is needed for some sick cows to regulate their own gut bacteria. It may seem cruel but the cow doesn’t seem to feel a thing when the demonstrator went in with her arm to fetch some of her good gut bacteria.
It was a beautiful day after the snow and rain stopped and we were able to walk around the campus to take in some of the sites.

One of our last stops before going to the dog show was checking out the community art show. I had entered four of my pieces, just for fun, and was most delighted when I found a white third place ribbon on one of my pieces.

At the beginning of this piece I mentioned that we’ve lived through more than 50 College Royals. We certainly haven’t attended that many but over the years we participated in quite a few. When the kids were little we took them there a couple of times and we went back when Andrea our eldest daughter attended the university and now our granddaughters are studying there and we’ve shown them around on at least two occasions.
…an eclectic group of trios

…from the Liquor Store
Welcome to Thursday Trios. As you can see you don’t have to post your trios on Thursdays. It’s been a busy week and I’ve been trying to catch up on watching as many Oscar nominated movies as possible before the awards ceremony on Sunday. I usually see one or two of the nominated movies but this year I’m determined to see at least six of them. So far I’ve seen 4 and have started a 5th.
On Tuesday and Wednesday I spent a good chunk of the day baking bread at the Inn and on Thursday I met a friend for lunch and then we went to an afternoon concert. I’ve also been trying to get out for longer walks and have been averaging 10 000 to 12 000 steps a day.
On my way home from the concert on Thursday I stopped at the liquor store to pick up some Guinness beer for a St. Patrick’s Day bread that I want to make and while I was there I noticed that there are many interesting bottles and wine labels. Here are some of my favourites.

I have never worked in a large format before and I was determined to give it a go. I bought two blank canvases that were 30″x40″ and when put together as one piece I would have met the minimum requirements for the show “A Large Art Affair”. When I got home and hauled the canvases to my small studio I realized that my small space wouldn’t allow me to paint on such a large surface. So for now, my purchase sits in the hallway outside my bedroom. I’m hoping in the summer when the weather warms up and we can open the outdoor studio again, my husband will let me share his space. The other option is to paint up at the cottage where I have lots of room.
In the meantime, the show “A Large Art Affair” has been installed and is now open to the public. Here is a sampling of what the Dignam gallery has in store for the visiting public.
