Closing in on the middle of flowers can sometimes be tricky. If the wind is blowing the petals move about. Some flowers are so dense that the middle is never revealed until the petals start to fall. Tulips centres are dramatic and reveal themselves soon after the flower has opened.

Ducks All in a Row – I’m a Fan of Ducklings

I always feel blessed when I get to see baby birds, goslings and ducklings. They grow up so quickly and they usually go through an ugly duckling stage. The ducklings that I saw along Meade Creek in Peterborough were not quite at the ‘ugly’ stage but they were no longer the cute fuzzy babies that they once were.
I was surprised how close the mother let me go up to her brood. The geese on the other hand were much more protective and cut me off when I tried to get closer.

I don’t often take photos of waste but two years ago, at the beginning of COVID, my neighbour and I went out every day for a month and collected the waste that people left behind. We were appalled at the amount of trash we picked up every day. People started to notice and thanked us and many people picked up the cause. It seems that the amount of trash is somewhat less these days.
Much of the trash that we collected had washed up from the lake and we found some pretty interesting things along the shoreline, hidden under the rocks and landfill that lined the edges of our parks.
