Our Old Trusted Friend

….on this day, August 26, International Dog Day I am dedicating this page to Frances

Frances came into our lives over 14 years ago when she was only two months old. My husband has always said the she is the best dog he’s ever owned. I say he because Frances is truly my husband’s dog but in the last few years when her energy levels dropped and she was only interested in short walks I’ve become the dog walker in the family.

Summer Wildflowers in the City

….Toronto has many naturalized parks where nature is encouraged and wildflowers flourish

On my many walks I love photographing flowers, cultivated and wild. The following are just some of the beautiful wildflowers that grow along the lake in my neighbourhood.

Sculpture Saturday – August 14, 2021

….behind city hall, a most unusual spot for such a dignified politician

Finding places to sit down when you’re in downtown Toronto can still be a little difficult even after things have opened up a bit more. There’s also a ton of construction going on and lots of areas are fenced off. Yesterday, my daughter and I found ourselves smack in the middle of town and we were looking for a place to drink our coffee while we waited for a take-out meal to be prepared.

Andrea knew that behind city hall there were some benches where we could sit for twenty minutes while we waited for our lunch. To my surprise we came across a huge statue of Winston Churchill.

As you can see, there is a lot of construction going on in the street next to the statue.

Tree Square – Morning Sun Through the Trees

….thanks to Becky B for hosting Tree Square in July https://beckybofwinchester.com/2021/07/21/tree-square-21/

The last few days in Toronto we’ve been adversely affected by the forest fires in north western Ontario. Hard to imagine that a forest fire thousands of kilometres from us could affect our air quality but it has. There was a haze that hung over the city and many people claimed they could smell the smoke. In the mornings the sun had an orange tinge to it and at night the moon glowed like a pumpkin. This is what the sun looked like as it came up through the trees in our backyard.

A Tree for a Loved One

….thanks to Becky B for hosting Tree Square for July, https://beckybofwinchester.com/2021/07/01/tree-square/

All through the park there are trees with plaques in from of them to honour a loved one.
