Buckets of Colour

I love autumn. The cooler temperatures appeal to me and visually I find the colours breathtaking. I also love the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables and how people use pumpkins, peppers and squash to decorate their porches and storefronts. Here are a few of my favourite bursts of colour and some creative pots of plants in the neighbourhood and beyond.

One Success and One Massive Failure

….happy with the first one and not so much with the second

Painting for me is a process. I’m more of an intuitive painter. I put down a mark on the paper and go from there. Sometimes it works out well and other times it doesn’t.

Yesterday I put a heavy black stroke of black ink on my paper and I knew as soon as I did that it would overpower my subject but I continued painting anyway. After finishing the piece I showed it to my husband and he honestly told me that the black was too much. I agreed and I tried to calm it down with white paint and other marks but it didn’t help.

I’ve decided to wait a bit before doing anything with it but I will probably cut it up and use the parts that I like and collage them into another painting.

Friendly Friday – The Colour Pink

….thanks to Amanda and her guest blogger, Vero for hosting Friendly Friday

Pink was not a colour that I wore as a child. As an adult I discovered that a warm pink was very flattering to my skin tone and I started to purchase and wear pink items. Our granddaughter loves pink.6-F384-A7-A-52-A6-440-D-B294-3-ED4337-D203-B

Instant Colour

….after a forced trip to Costco

I needed my winter tires taken off my car. I haven’t driven very much since this isolation started back in March. In fact I filled up just before this started and I was down to a quarter of a tank when I filled up again two days ago. That was 8 weeks between fill-ups.

Anyway I digress. I got an appointment at the Tire Centre at Costco very easily. I booked on-line and took the first appointment available. So on the 13th of May I drove to Costco at 9:30 in the morning. I walked straight into the warehouse past a huge line-up of people waiting to get into the store to shop.

After I dropped off the car I had an hour and a half wait so I decided I might as well join the line and pick up some flowers for the yard. It took about 30 minutes to get inside. Once inside I felt completely safe. There were very  few people in the building and the check out was very organized.8469-EFC0-1830-4949-A51-F-5-A1-F72-AC297-F

An hour is a long time so I ended up buying more than I had planned to but I did only purchase things that I needed or would need shortly.

When I got home I arranged the flowers in the front and back of the house. That blast of instant colour made my trip to Costco all the more worthwhile.

Friendly Friday Photo Challenge – Yellow

…thanks to Amanda for hosting this week’s Friendly Friday Photo Challenge

Yellow is the colour of friendship but a baby’s room painted yellow makes them cry. I love the psychology of colour.FDF78783-39-D3-4-C7-D-840-D-940358864-E1-B
