More Interesting Characters

….not sure if our granddaughter has seen these yet

My husband doesn’t always share his drawings with me but when he does I download them into my ‘Photos’. I know that tomorrow is suppose to be ‘Fishy Friday’ but I’m not sure if that’s happening. If it does I’ll make sure to pass it on to those of you who enjoy his work.

These three entries are a dog, a mouse and a bird. Not as colourful or quirky as some of his drawings but fun nonetheless.Woof2

From a Doodle to Flowers, a Bird and a Bee

….day 124 for 365 Days of Art

Using watercolour I added colour to a doodle that I had made last week. This time I looked for shapes and found a bird and a whimsical bee. With other shapes I created some abstract flowers. Here is the doodle before paint.IMG_3147

Second Project of Part 2

….day 80 of 365 Days of Art

For the Tape n’Stuff assignment that Carla Sonheim gave us I made two backgrounds. Yesterday I posted the first one here where I explained the process for this project.

Here is my second attempt at this unusual assignment.

365 Days of Art – Part 2 of Tape n’Stuff

…..day 79

I went back to some of the one-liner birds that I had done and decided to redraw two of them onto the taped and collaged background that I created yesterday. After I lightly drew the shape onto the collaged surface I took acrylic white paint and filled in the shape. After it dried completely I used a Koi Colouring Brush Pen in black and outlined the shape and added a few details. I then applied some water with a brush to the black marks to soften them and create shadow.

Here is the first completed piece:

365 Days of Art – Caruso Sings

….day 50

I’m a little behind but I’m sure I’ll make it up in the next couple of days. I’m enamoured with Collage Characters. My latest creation is another bird that I have named Chattering Caruso. Caruso lives in the trees and loves to sing all day long.

365 Days of Art – Day 24

…..spent most of the day on the road and in Collingwood

My husband had a meeting with clients in Collingwood today so I decided to accompany him on the trip. While he was with his clients I spent time walking up and down the Main Street of Collingwood, taking photographs and checking out some of the stores. After awhile I stepped into a lovely little coffee shop and treated myself to a flat white. I had to ask what it was and it sounded interesting so I ordered it. Delicious!

I brought my sketch book with me and some markers. It was the perfect place to practise my one-liners. Carla Sonheim wanted us to make several one-liners of birds, cats, potted plants or flowers, shoes and houses. For those of you unfamiliar with one-liners, you literally draw an object without taking the pen off the paper until you’ve finished the drawing. It should be loose and free flowing. They’re fun to do but sometimes a bit frustrating. My favourite are the flowers and houses. Here are a few pages that I worked on in the cafe.
