Friendly Friday Photo Challenge – Quiet Places
…thanks to Amanda for hosting this week’s Friendly Friday Photo Challenge https://viewfromtheback.com/2020/09/25/friday-photo-challenge-63/
Whether it’s close to home or up at the cottage, my quiet places almost always include water. Pictures #1, 5 and 6 were taken right here in Toronto and the others from Georgian Bay.
Darkness Into Light
This show is running until October 8th and if you’re in town this weekend it will be open to the public on Saturday, Sept 26 for Culture Days. Normally WAAC is only open from Monday to Thursday.
When I went to WAAC ten days ago I saw this show first hand. The participating artists are all members of the Women’s Art Assoc. of Canada. Earlier in the year at the beginning of COVID a call went out for artists to create a piece of work that spoke to them about coming out of the darkness of the pandemic and into the light of hope and new beginnings. Here are a few examples of what you will see when you attend the show.
Butterfly Surprise
…have you ever seen a tagged butterfly?
I love getting up close to bees and butterflies but when I saw this monarch I thought someone had played a cruel trick.
When I got home and took a closer look at the photo I checked out what I saw on the tag. Monarch Watch is a real thing. If you’d like to learn more about this organization check it out https://monarchwatch.org/tagging/index.html#recoveries
Sculpture Saturday – Sept. 19, 2020
…thanks to Ruined for Life for hosting Sculpture Saturday https://smkelly8.com/2020/09/12/sculpture-saturday-36/
This week at WAAC (Women’s Art Association of Canada), I was helping clean up the gardens. As we were pulling out the weeds and trimming back some of the shrubs I discovered some hidden gems. The large sculpture of course was always visible but the two smaller ones were a surprise for me.
Pull Up a Seat Photo Challenge – Sept. 18, 2020
….thanks to Xingfu Mama for hosting the https://xingfumama.blog/2020/09/18/pull-up-a-seat-photo-challenge-2020-week-38/
Earlier this week I drove to the Women’s Art Association of Canada or WAAC building downtown to help clean up the garden in the back. They are suppose to be hosting a wedding this Saturday. Our COVID numbers were coming down in Ontario but recently they have started to spike again. There is talk of lowering the number of people allowed to gather in outdoor spaces again but the organizers don’t think that this will affect the wedding this weekend where about 30 people are expected to attend.
Hopefully these chairs will be in use on Saturday. If not it’s for a good reason.

Water, Water Everywhere – #43
…thanks to Jez for hosting Water, Water Everywhere https://jezbraithwaite.blog/2020/08/31/broadwood-loch-water-water-everywhere-43/
I’m always near water. At home I have Lake Ontario 100m from my house and at the cottage I live by Georgian Bay. This is the view from the park at the bottom of my street in Toronto. I never get tired of seeing this skyline.
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Modern Homes and Apartments

There’s been a lot of rebuilding going on in my neighbourhood. Older homes are being torn down and replaced with more modern structures.
