Weekly Prompts Wednesday Challenge – Late Bloomer

thanks to Sue W and GC for hosting Weekly Promptshttps://weeklyprompts.com/2023/09/13/weekly-prompts-wednesday-challenge-late-bloomer/

While at baking this past week we noticed that the garden bed behind the inn was producing some very late butternut squash. Sadly many of these won’t grow to maturity because they are very late bloomers but you never know. If we get a few more weeks of warm summer weather some of them might have a chance.

Weekly Prompts Wednesday Challenge – Nostalgia

thanks to Sue W and GC for hosting weekly prompts https://weeklyprompts.com/2023/06/14/weekly-prompts-wednesday-challenge-nostalgia-2/

As I get older I become more and more nostalgic. All kinds of things remind me of my past. Baking bread at the inn reminds me of our first trip to San Francisco where I first tasted sourdough white bread and my box of buttons reminds me of my mom and her button box. I even created a series of paintings called Needle and Thread that brought back memories of my childhood.

Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge – Fresh

thanks to Sue W and GC for hosting Weekly Prompts https://weeklyprompts.com/2023/06/10/weekly-prompts-weekend-challenge-fresh/

There’s nothing like bread fresh out of the oven. Every week, on Wednesdays, I head over to Montgomery’s Inn where I help bake the bread for the Farmers’ Market. The bread is prepped the day before, except the sourdough, and hand kneaded and shaped before it goes into the wood fired oven.

Weekly Prompts Colour Challenge – The Blues

thanks to Sue W and GC for hosting Weekly Prompts https://weeklyprompts.com/2023/06/03/weekly-prompts-colour-challenge-blues/

Blue is often related to the feeling of being depressed or sad but it is also a colour that is very relaxing and soothing and if you ask people what their favourite colour is, it is most often blue. People always tell me that blue is my colour because it brings out the blue from my blule green eyes but it has to be a very specific blue. A pale blue or denim blue really does nothing for me except wash me out. My best blues are royal blues and bright blues and turquoise blues.

Other than the sky, blue is difficult to find in nature but I did manage to find a flower that was blue.

Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge – Birds n Bees

….thanks to Sue W and GC for hosting Weekly Prompts

Some of my favourite subjects for photography are bees on flowers and birds. I find photographing birds more difficult because I can’t get close enough with my iPhone and I need to use my ‘big’ camera with the telephoto lens. I don’t always have the camera with me because it is awkward and heavy but when I do it takes superior shots of birds.

Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge – Busy

thanks to Sue W and GC for hosting Weekly Prompts https://weeklyprompts.com/2023/05/13/weekly-prompts-weekend-challenge-busy/

The last two weeks have been very busy for me, mostly with my art show. Preparing the art itself over the last two months has been a busy time but hanging the show, preparing for the opening, driving to the gallery six times to meet with friends, and then taking the show down and packing it up has taken up hours of time. Now I have to deliver the pieces that were sold. I’m exhausted but in a good way.

Of course life goes on in between trips to the gallery. I started baking again at the Inn, I played Bridge with a group of friends, attended a Zoom meeting for the Exhibition Committee at WAAC, paid bills and for three days in a row I helped prepare the lawn bowling rink to get ready for the opening of our season. Things that didn’t get done were housework, laundry and gardening. This morning I started to clean up the back garden and filled up one bag of yard waste. It’s a start.

Weekly Prompts Wednesday Challenge – Gardens

Where do I start with the prompt ‘garden’? It seems that at least 50% of my posts are around flowers. I’ve decided to go back and find some of the more interesting gardens that I’ve visited over the years.

Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge – GAP

thanks to Sue W and GC for hosting Weekly Prompts https://weeklyprompts.com/2023/04/08/weekly-prompts-weekend-challenge-gap/

Some gaps are manmade, like the gap created by beams on the underside of the observation deck overlooking Fundy Bay in New Brunswick but for me the ones made by nature are the most interesting. The following photos are from Hopewell Rocks, NB and the last one was taken on Prince Edward Island. That one is pretty far off in the distance but I included it because after a second wind storm, shortly after I left, took it down.
