Drips, drops and blobs of coloured water. When you don’t get outside you need to come up with some inventive water pictures. I always have water on my art table and I started playing with the water, brushes and paints.
This eventually became a painting. I’ll put it in my next post.

On our little get-a-way last week we stopped at Albion Falls in Hamilton. I love waterfalls and Hamilton has over 100 of them tucked behind the trails of the Niagara Escarpment that cuts through the city. Albion Falls is one of the more popular ones. It is almost as wide (18 metres) as it is tall (19 metres) and is visible from two viewing platforms, but there is currently no access to the bottom.

This week I’m a fan of my husband’s abstract paintings. Back in August he finally started painting again after a 45 year hiatus. He was primarily painting with acrylics but yesterday he started to experiment with watercolour. Here are his first attempts in this new medium.
This last photo is the first painting in a frame under glass. This one has already been slated as a gift to one of the nurses at MacMaster Hospital in Hamilton.

I haven’t been anywhere tropical in over 35 years so I wasn’t sure how many palm pictures I’d find in my archive of photos. Turns out that the zoo, botanical gardens and countries like England and Italy are all keepers of this wonderful tree.
I particularly like what you find under the palms at the zoo.

The ROM is the Royal Ontario Museum located in downtown Toronto. I’ve been a member for several years and whenever I’m in the area I like to drop in and see what’s new. Recently I went to to see the Treasures of a Desert Kingdom.
The jewellery in this collection was quite amazing.
Amassed over the course of nearly four centuries, these treasures reflect the history and artistic legacy of the Rathore dynasty, one of the longest continuous royal lineages in the world, that ruled this desert kingdom until India’s independence in 1947. (Copied from the ROM website)
Unfortunately the show ended September 2. I was hoping to return and spend more time in the gallery.

I’m a big fan of the beach down from my cottage on Georgian Bay. Last weekend the beach was quiet. It was a beautiful weekend but most people stayed in the city. I’m not complaining because I loved the solitude and spending time with my dog, Frances.
