I have never worked in a large format before and I was determined to give it a go. I bought two blank canvases that were 30″x40″ and when put together as one piece I would have met the minimum requirements for the show “A Large Art Affair”. When I got home and hauled the canvases to my small studio I realized that my small space wouldn’t allow me to paint on such a large surface. So for now, my purchase sits in the hallway outside my bedroom. I’m hoping in the summer when the weather warms up and we can open the outdoor studio again, my husband will let me share his space. The other option is to paint up at the cottage where I have lots of room.
In the meantime, the show “A Large Art Affair” has been installed and is now open to the public. Here is a sampling of what the Dignam gallery has in store for the visiting public.

I never get tired of the waterfront that I live close to (literally 100m from my house). It changes with the season, the wind, time of day and the weather. Earlier this week the water was dead calm. Very unusual for this time of year but the entire winter this year has been unusual. Little to no snow, mild temperatures, rain and then sudden drops in temperature that last for one to three days.

…when one ‘expects’ to be fed
On my walk today, the ducks and geese were foraging for food along the shoreline. Normally when I get closer the ducks, in particular, waddle to the water and swim away. Today, however, it was bitterly cold and as I moved in closer so did the ducks. Clearly they were ‘expecting’ me to feed them. I know that bread is bad for ducks so I never throw them crusts of day old bread.
