Monday Mural – In Yorkville

….viewed from the parking lot behind WAAC

Sometimes the best art is on walls and often in obscure places. Today’s mural was found facing the parking lot between Bloor St. and Prince Arthur Ave. I almost missed it because I wasn’t looking up and to the left. We were headed back to the car and I was focused on the mission to find the car. One of my friends brought my attention.

Weekly Prompts Wednesday Challenge – Lonely Character

thanks to Sue W and GC for hosting Weekly Prompts https://weeklyprompts.com/2023/04/05/weekly-prompts-wednesday-challenge-character/

Who is that lonely character that I see before me?

Off in the distance, standing guard on the grass

Hidden but not, an unusual white mass

His days are numbered for him to see

The weather is his enemy.

Water, Water Everywhere – April 3, 2023

viewed through the trees and from a bug’s eye perspective

I’m always trying to find different ways to photograph the water that surrounds us. Here are my latest attempts to do just that.

Carrying On a Running Tradition

46 years ago Kevin ran in this race and yesterday our daughter took part at the High Park Spring Run Off Race

Back in the day my husband was an elite runner. When the kids were little we used to bundle them up, strap them into their car seats and drive off to races all over Ontario and New York State. One of the races that was closer to home was the High Park Spring Run Off. When it first started back in 1978 it attracted an impressive 1200 runners and yesterday’s race saw over 5000 men, women and children running in the 8k, 5k and children’s race.

This is not the first year that our daughter, Andrea ran in this race but it was certainly her best performance. She placed 1st in her age category for women. Kevin and I arrived after the race started but we managed to find a prime spot just at the top of the hill so we had a great vantage point for taking photos and caught her just steps in front of the finish line.

I’m a Fan of…..Centennial Park Conservatory

Now that spring has arrived the Centennial Park Conservatory staff have created a wonderful new display of the most glorious spring flowers. The first thing that hits you before you even enter the room is the perfume smell from those beautiful flowers. The feature room changes at least five times a year if not more often. It’s well worth the visit if you live in Toronto or close by.

Water, Water Everywhere – Real Pond vs Weather Created Pond

….after a heavy downpour on Saturday the ground was so saturated that ponds appeared over the grass

The ducks loved it and enjoyed their new pond for at least a day. They aren’t that evident in my photos because they swam further away when I walked closer to the edge of the newly formed pond.

The Pond at Col. Sam Smith Park, after being almost completely drained of water a month ago has come back to its former self probably due to the heavy rainfall on the weekend. Sadly the day was still overcast but at least the rain had stopped.
