Coloured Snow – Square Odds

thanks to Becky B for hosting February Squares, https://beckybofwinchester.com/2022/02/03/the-square-odds-3/

Clearly the snow is coloured by humans and I suspect there are children in this house who had a wonderful time creating these colourful discs of ice to add to the snow bank on their front yard.

Walking in -13 Degree Weather

surprisingly pleasant

Last week the temperatures dipped well below zero but the sun was shining and winds were minimal. I put on a pair of long johns, my big blue parka, my scarf, hat and my warmest mitts and off I went. I was surprisingly warm. I invested in a good pair of winter hiking boots a few years ago and I’ve never experienced cold feet.

I kept my phone in the pocket of my coat and I worried that the cold might affect the battery but I was able to take a lot of photos and it held up well against the cold. Here are a few shots of things that I saw on my walk that day. Enjoy!

February Squares are Back

….thanks to Becky B for hosting Square Odds for the month of Februaryhttps://beckybofwinchester.com/2022/02/02/the-square-odds-2/

Definition of odd

1: differing markedly from the usual, ordinary, or accepted PECULIAR a very odd way to show gratitude

2a: not regular, expected, or planned; worked at odd jobs b: encountered or experienced from time to time OCCASIONAL manages to get in some reading at odd moments 3a: being without a corresponding (see CORRESPONDING sense 1) mate; an odd shoe

3: left over after others are paired or grouped; came without his wife and thus turned out to be the odd guest at the party (2): separated from a set or series; had in his possession only two or three odd volumes of the original 12-volume set

4a: being any of the integers (such as −3, −1, +1, and +3) that are not divisible by two without leaving a remainder b: marked by an odd number of units needed; two odd-length boards, one of three feet and one of five feet

My first odd square is a peculiar sight – colourful flowers coming from the snow. Of course they are fake flowers. We don’t get flowers in February in Canada.

Thursday Trios – January 27, 2022

….another late post

All the days seem to run into each other and there are times when I literally forget what day of the week it is. I don’t think it’s an age thing but more of a COVID reality and winter blues combination. I’ve found it difficult to get out of the house to take photos and when I do finally get my coat on it’s already getting dark and the opportunity for taking photos of trios has diminished. Today’s trios are mostly from the archives but the three swans were captured by my camera earlier this week.
