…every week my husband draws a Monster Monday for the grandkids but I think the adults like them just as much if not more
….not literally
This week it’s been so hot that my husband didn’t think he could come up with a wacky bird. He decided to do a very quick sketch and apply watercolour without too much detail. When he finished the first painting he was so pleased with how quickly it came together and he decided to make another one. He ended up making four wacky birds in total and quickly realized that his inner Quentin Blake had been summoned. If you’re a fan of Roald Dahl books you’ll know what I mean.

When I go to the cottage for a few days I seem to struggle getting my posts out and then when I come home I have so many emails to read that I fall even further behind. So I’m posting the last three paintings that Kevin did for Wacky Bird Wednesday, TGIFFF (Tonguely) and Sloth Saturday all in one post.

….a great way to get back into my painting groove
Last week I discovered a new painting challenge that involved using prompts and painting on 2″x2″ pieces of watercolour paper. Amy from amy@mindfulartstudio.com is hosting the Inchie Challenge for 12 days. It started on August 16 and goes to the 27th but you can start in anytime. There’s no charge for this challenge and it’s a great way to re-energize your creative juices.
On the weekend I packed up my travelling watercolour set, a brush and a few micron pens and 30 little squares that I had pre-cut. I wasn’t sure I could paint this small but once I started I was hooked. I managed to make 19 little paintings using the prompts, bundle, egg, mend and yellow. Here’s what I came up with.

….a new art challenge for Kevin
A while back our five year old granddaughter wondered by Papa didn’t make Saturday Sloths. Kevin couldn’t ignore the request so he has now added sloths to his collection of drawings. Sloths are slow and can be characterized as lazy so if Kevin doesn’t get the sloth drawn by Saturday he doesn’t feel bad.
This week’s sloth is my favourite so far so I’ve decided to share it with you.

….last week I was away when Kevin finished his latest Tonguely picture and I didn’t get around to posting it
Looks like Tonguely wanted to learn how to cook but he thinks that fudge is a food group. This week he wanted to celebrate National Vanilla Ice-cream Day but then he discovered that it was also Gorgeous Grandmother Day. Since he loves his Granny he decided to spend the day with her and share a cone or two.
