….what’s more entertaining than a dozen super energetic Super Dogs?
In the summer I saw, for the first time, the Super Dog Show at the CNE. I was sitting pretty far back from the arena and I didn’t have my zoom lens with me so most of my shots were distant and often not very focused. It was also very dark in the arena and the dogs were highlighted with special lights and spot lights.
A couple of weeks ago when I went to the Royal Winter Fair with my father, he really wanted to see the Super Dog Show, so I went again. It was very different this time. It wasn’t dark, we sat much closer and I had my zoom lens with me. It was, however, still difficult to get clear shots of the dogs because they moved so quickly through the race course.
Here are a few shots that I managed to get that I’m somewhat happy with:
These last two shots are probably my favourites.

…..from the Royal Winter Fair
I always enjoy looking at the prize winning produce at the Royal. This year did not disappoint. The giant pumpkins are always a big hit and there was a good variety of oversized root vegetables (some completely unrecognizable). This year there was also a display of perfectly formed vegetables that were grown in a greenhouse.

….playing with my zoom lens at the Jumping Competition at the Royal Winter Fair
I love the zoom lens that my brother-in-law gifted me but I have to admit that for action shots it’s not that easy to get good shots. That’s true for me anyway. If any of my professional photographers who follow me have some tips I would be most grateful. Here are some of the better shots that I took earlier this week at the Horse Palace at the Royal.

…..Monarch butterfly that is
While on my walk this afternoon I came across this lone butterfly. In the summer I couldn’t get a photo of a butterfly because they didn’t sit long enough. They flitted from one flower to another before I could adjust my focus. I’m not sure what the destiny for this little fellow will be, seeing that most of the Monarchs have already headed south.
