WPC – Liquid
….this week’s challenge is to keep it fluid with the theme liquid

WPC – My Place in the World is Near Water
….thanks to WordPress for this week’s photo challenge Place in the World
People assumed that I would move when I retired. That’s other peoples’ dreams, not mine. So often I hear people say they want to move to the country, get out of the city. I’ve known some people who have done that but moved back to the city within a few years. I live close to downtown Toronto but I’m right by Lake Ontario and I’m surrounded by parkland. If I want to go into the city to catch a show or go to museum or art gallery I’m only a 20 minute car drive away or a short trip on the subway. When I want to go hiking or biking I just have to step outside my door and get on the Waterfront Trail. I have the best of both worlds.
I’ve always loved living close to the water and I love my city, Toronto.
WPC – The ‘Unlikely’ Return
….after yesterday’s windstorm it was very unlikely that today life would return as a normal spring day so quickly
The forecast was for more wind but not as severe as yesterday but with all the damage that the storm did I thought it would take a few days for things to return to normal. Even though today is a Saturday, people are already having repairs done to their roofs, the streets have been cleared of debris and tree branches and entire trees and couples and families are out walking and enjoying the sun. You can see from the photos that the water is still pretty choppy but it’s not keeping people from sitting at the shore to take in some rays or for some brave souls (or foolhardy) to get into their boats today.
I know that the damage that you see here may not seem like much, especially if you compare it to the damage that a hurricane or tornado can do but two people did die during this storm from falling trees and 100 000 people were without power.
WPC – Lines
…this week’s theme for the Weekly Photo Challenge is lines
Lines in Quilt, lines left by shadows, line drawing, line for the bathroom, tape lines, lines on the road and railway lines.
Awakening the Plants
….thanks to WordPress for this week’s WPC ‘awakening’
Here in the northern hemisphere spring arrived a couple of weeks ago but the awakening of new growth has been slow due to the unusually cold weather. Today in Hamilton my granddaughter and I played in the backyard and even though the sun wasn’t out it was mild enough to be outside without hats, scarves and mittens. Miss Winnie loved playing with the puddles of water and digging in the mud and checking out the plants to see if any flowers were forthcoming.
Of course there are a few patches of green sprouts emerging in parts of the garden and if I got close enough I was able to see the beginnings of buds on some of the shrubs. On our walk we also came across a small flock of pigeons in a bird bath…..something they haven’t been able to do in awhile.
WPC – Smile
….thanks to WordPress for this week’s theme smile
Today we woke up to grey skies and soon after it started to snow. Later in the afternoon the sun came out but it was short lived as a north west wind blew through bringing with it a blustery storm. I couldn’t believe how quickly the weather changed.
This is the view from our daughter’s house in Hamilton.
Fortunately the blizzard only lasted about 10 minutes and once again the sun came out and so did my smile. Here are a few shots of blue sky, the sun and a trumpet of swans that reappeared when the weather changed. All things that bring a smile to my face after this long weird winter and quirky start to spring.
WPC – Rise/Set
…..this week’s photo challenge asks us to post our favourite Sunrise and/or Sunset photos
WPC – Favourite Place
……do you have a favourite place?
Thanks to WordPress for this week’s photo challenge, favourite place.
It’s so hard to choose just one place but if I must I think my favourite place to hang out would be at my cottage on Georgian Bay.
WPC – Hunting for Gnomes
…..this week’s theme for WordPress’ Photo Challenge is story
Photos tell a story all on their own. Today we visited the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington and we walked through an outdoor area that my granddaughter loves to explore in hopes of finding gnomes.
