Going Up a Ski Hill in July

….no snow…don’t worry

Here in the west end of Toronto we have a park and a ski hill that was built entirely with garbage. It’s a wonderful place with soccer fields, baseball diamonds, a track and field stadium, walking paths, picnic areas, a go carting facility, a golf course and yes a ski hill.

My husband is coaching a group of boys to help them with their physical endurance and running skills. Last week I decided to join him and we drove to Centennial Hill together. Rather than sit around I decided to go for a walk and I climbed the hill alongside the ski ramp. It was nice and shady and I could stop and rest on the ramp when I needed to.

At the top of the hill I had a wonderful view of the next city, Mississauga and the Toronto airport from one side and the park further along the ridge.

Roses, Music, and a Fabulous Meal

This has been an extremely busy week. It started with a trip up north to visit our youngest daughter and her family at the camp where they are living for the summer. The next day I attended a garden party at the Women’s Art Association of Canada house in Downtown Toronto. Last year I volunteered to take over the position of library chairperson and in appreciation for the work that I did along with other new volunteers we were each presented with a rose.

The meal was outstanding and my only regret is the I didn’t take any photos of the event. The president, however, did take photos and she sent me one the same day. I thought that she was only taking a photo of the band but she managed to capture me next to the balloons where I stopped so I wouldn’t get in front of her shot.

The Colours of the Pride 5K Race

….today our son, daughter and daughter-in-law all took part in the Pride 5k Race

There is probably no race more colourful than the one that takes place during Pride Week here in Toronto. It was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine, warm temperatures and colourful decorations and runners.

All three of our children did very well. Of the three Andrea arrived first at just over 22 minutes.

Brenda came in next in just over 24 minutes. Not bad considering he hadn’t trained in over two months and only had four hours of sleep the night before.

Josie wanted to break 35 minutes and came in at just over 33 minutes. Congratulations to all of them for a job well done.
