…a departure from my art journal
I really enjoy fibre arts and whenever I can add yarns and threads to my work it gives me a great deal of satisfaction. This woven piece was done on an 8 x 8 inch stretched canvas.

…to another page that I prepped earlier in the week
This page was a lot of fun. I really didn’t know how I was going to approach the marks that I had laid down but I remembered how I used to create birds from scraps of paper. I decided to use the blobs like I would paper scraps and the plaid below became a fence.

Here is what the original piece looked like.

…for the next couple of days
In an art journal sometimes it’s good to prep pages ahead of time, especially if you’re using wet paint or glue. Hopefully I’ll be inspired to create something from the papers and paint that I have already laid down.

…thanks to Judy Dykstra-Brown for hosting the Numbers Game Photo Challenge https://judydykstrabrown.com/2025/01/19/the-numbers-game-57-jan-20-2025-please-play-along/
I love typing in the number into the search box on my photos page. I never know what’s going to come up. Try it, it’s a lot of fun.

It’s so cool when some of photos actually have the number 178 in them. Can you find it?
…days 8 and 9
Making art has always brought me joy. I can’t believe that I hadn’t played with my art tools in almost a year.

…days 6 and 7 of my Art Journey
Not everything that I post will be good. I do feel, however, that I should post my artworks, good or bad so that I can see and have a record of my progress. I know that I’m not a particularly good artist when I draw realistic subjects but I’d like to get better so I’m going to try to improve my drawing skills. Instead of flowers I’m going to try my hand at animals.
My first attempt in my Art Journey for 2025 is that of a Frenchie. I also went back to the collage that I had started up at the cottage and added more marks and a couple of old photographs that I came across when I was sorting through my collage papers.

…while waiting for the laundry to be done I did find some inspiration to work in my journal
I’ve always loved drawing florals so I picked up my Micron pen and started to draw over the collage I had glued down last night.

…after 6 wonderful days with Andrea and Olive
This is the first time in many years that I’ve experienced this much snow. Our cottage on Christian Island ( a mere 10 minutes from here to the ferry dock) is not winterized and the road up the north shore is not ploughed regularly, if at all.
While Andrea logs onto work today, I’ll be doing laundry and packing to go home. Once that is done I may do some more art or continue reading my book, Doppelgänger. Yesterday I prepped a couple of pages in my art journal and I might continue with one or both pages if I’m inspired.

Hopefully we’ll find some time after lunch to go for another walk. It’s considerably warmer today and it has finally stopped snowing.
