Monday Murals – Art Commissioned for Our Enjoyment

thanks to Sami from Colourful World

https://sami-colourfulworld.blogspot.com/2021/02/monday-mural-pop-of-colour.html for hosting Monday Murals

I love murals and street art. Sometimes we see things so often, almost daily, and we take it for granted. In my neighbourhood there are lots of murals that have been commissioned over the years that I had completely forgotten about when thinking of this challenge. Here are just a few of the murals that are close together in my neck of the woods.

This last one is my favourite. It almost feels like there is an actual Mountie up on a ladder painting the last bit of red on the wall. Notice his horse waiting for him on the other side of the bus shelter.

Sunday Trees – February 21, 2021

….Becca Givens is on a pause right now but thanks to her years of hosting Sunday Trees

Before you see this tree you hear it. Birds love to hide inside these densely crowded branches, especially when the hawks are close by.

Can you see the birds hiding inside this mulberry tree?

Going for a Winter Evening Walk

….during a snowstorm

Well I guess I’m exaggerating a bit but it was snowing and it was cold. When my husband said he wanted to walk in the snow and take some photos of the street I quickly put on my coat so that I could join him. I needed some more steps to get to my 10 000 step goal anyway.

It’s nice seeing some of the Christmas lights still on. This year people have decided that we need more colour and light in our lives because of COVID so many homes are still brightly lit in the evenings. It’s quite pretty against the snow.

What One Does When Under the Weather

….why draw another frog of course

Today the plan was to drive to Hamilton and go for another hike but after waking up with a headache and feeling listless my husband postponed the hike and sat at his art table. This new frog pretty much depicts how he was feeling in the moment. He decided he wanted to post it right away and come up with a happier frog for next Friday.

A Photo a Week Challenge – Something New

….first time I’ve been snowshoeing in the city with my daughter

It was a spectacular day. The sun was shining and the snow was still relatively fresh from yesterday’s snowfall. It was cold but there was little wind. The conditions were ideal for snowshoeing.

I have to say that this activity uses different muscles than mere walking or running. After two hours of traipsing through the snow we could really feel it in our hips.

Thanks to Nancy Merrill for hosting this challenge: https://nadiamerrillphotography.wordpress.com/2021/02/15/a-photo-a-week-challenge-something-new-3/
