Last year we had an abundance of acorns. When you have a metal roof you become acutely aware of that fact when they start to fall.
I’ve never given much thought as to how acorns germinate to become trees until this summer. The pathways around my cottage are littered with tiny oak saplings and directly below the leaves are the acorns that have ruptured open and developed roots growing into the ground and leafy stems reaching for the sky. Luckily they are easy to pull up or I would have dozens of unwanted oak trees on my property.

Every year I record the decomposition of the trees that used to house a treehouse on the edge of the beach. I love all the different stages that they’ve gone through.

…this week’s Lens-Artists Challenge
Thank you to Egidio from Through Brazilian Eyes https://throughbrazilianeyes.com/lens-artists-challenge-348-serenity/
Serenity for me has always been looking over lake up at my cottage or enjoying a cup of coffee with a book on the deck.

When Dad lived with us he used to love going down to the park at the end of the our street and sitting on the bench or his walker and just enjoying the view of his ‘ocean’, which was actually Lake Ontario.

…it’s been close to a year since I’ve pulled out my art supplies
I’m at my daughter’s cottage for several days and since she’s working up here we both thought it would be a good time for me to start putting some marks onto paper again. I gathered up a few supplies and my mixed media art journal and started with baby steps towards continuing my art journey.
It’s the perfect setting. Quiet and restful with wonderful views of the forest and the falling snow. Here’s my first piece after playing with collage and mark making.
