Something to look forward to.

This last one is the car seat after the passenger window exploded while my husband was driving on the highway today. No one was hurt and the window has been replaced. The shop figured a truck had kicked up a stone and hit it just right to cause this kind of damage.
….quiet and the sunrise
I’m normally a night owl and don’t tend to wake before 8:00 in the morning. Today, however, I had to drive my daughter to the airport so I was up at 6:00. It was still dark when we left the house shortly after 6:30 but on my return I could see an orange line along the horizon. It was bitter cold but I decided to venture out of the car when I reached the park at the end of our street and I started to take a few shots of the sky over the lake. In the first shot you can still see the moon in the sky.
The waves and the freezing temperatures created some beautiful natural ice sculptures along the shoreline.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get better the sun actually came up over the horizon line. It was spectacular.

I had to get up very early this morning to drive my daughter to the airport. The plus side of this favour was that I was up early enough to see the sunrise. I loved playing around with different angles and was fascinated how the morning sun reflected off the icicles along the shoreline.

Lesson two of 2020: Words and Pictures was taught by a new instructor, Martha Rich. Our assignment is to draw or doodle a page of thoughts and pictures of things we hear and see. We are suppose to use a black brush pen and just go for it. It’s not the quality of the work that matters here but the quantity. Once I got over the insecurity of drawing without being able to erase and using such a bold marker I started to enjoy the process. Here are the first four pages from my sketch book.

If I don’t put my computer to sleep at night the light that emanates from it keeps me awake.

People are such hams when they get in front of a camera. It doesn’t take much to get people to smile but sometimes you find yourself saying ‘say cheese’. It works about 90% of the time……
…..and sometimes it doesn’t

Yesterday I continued working on a baby blanket for the new grandchild that is due to arrive next week. Sometimes I need to take a break from drawing or painting and do something else. I’ve also been reading quite a bit. The book is due back tomorrow so I’ll be going back to that after I complete this post.

I’ve just completed my third art piece around the saying ‘This is impossible to read but it was fun to make.’ My inspiration came from watching Lesson two for the 2020: Pictures and Words year long class hosted by Carla Sonheim. The teacher for this class has us doing something very different but I was mesmerized by her glasses and decided to use her as my subject for this drawing. Thanks Martha.

Spring may seem far away but March 21st is just around the corner. This year I’ll be in London, England when spring arrives and I’m hoping to see blossoms on the trees and some early spring flowers.
