Day 5 in My Art Journey

while waiting for the laundry to be done I did find some inspiration to work in my journal

I’ve always loved drawing florals so I picked up my Micron pen and started to draw over the collage I had glued down last night.

Last Day at the Cottage

after 6 wonderful days with Andrea and Olive

This is the first time in many years that I’ve experienced this much snow. Our cottage on Christian Island ( a mere 10 minutes from here to the ferry dock) is not winterized and the road up the north shore is not ploughed regularly, if at all.

While Andrea logs onto work today, I’ll be doing laundry and packing to go home. Once that is done I may do some more art or continue reading my book, Doppelgänger. Yesterday I prepped a couple of pages in my art journal and I might continue with one or both pages if I’m inspired.

Hopefully we’ll find some time after lunch to go for another walk. It’s considerably warmer today and it has finally stopped snowing.

A Winter Walk

more snow

Since Sunday the snow has come down every day. There’s a good 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) on the ground and it just keeps coming. Andrea and I were going to go for a drive but thought better of it when we checked the forecast.

Olive loves the snow. The worst part for her and probably for her humans is getting dressed to go out.

Once outside you can see from the snow on the railings how much more snow had fallen.

When I Grow Up

thanks today RDP for today’s prompthttps://ragtagcommunity.wordpress.com/2025/01/14/rdp-tuesday-when-i-grow-up/

When I was 12 years old I knew that I wanted to become a Family Studies (formerly known as Home Economics) teacher. I had been asked to attend an open house at the school and demonstrate what I had learned on the sewing machine. From that moment on I was hooked.

That’s not say that I didn’t have other options. There were moments when I thought I might study medicine but I always came back to teaching. For over 40 years I was a teacher. First as a Family Studies teacher and then a guidance counsellor in Middle school and then a grade 5 classroom teacher. At the end of my career I became the teacher librarian and art teacher for the entire school from JK to grade 5.

In my last 5 years I taught art and library

My secret fantasy growing up was to become a famous rock or folk singer. Instead I sang with a choir for 27 years.
