…if anyone knows the name of this beauty I’d love to know
…thanks to Sue W and GC for hosting Weekly Prompts https://weeklyprompts.com/2024/01/20/weekly-prompts-weekend-challenge-bridge/
Ever since I started teaching the unit on Bridges from the grade 5 curriculum I’ve been somewhat obsessed with them. I love bridges but I wish I had more photos. The following bridges are from Venice, Florence, Loire Valley in France, London over the Thames, from Ontario, P.E.I., New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

…thanks to J-Dub for suggesting Plants for today’s JusJoJan24 https://jilywily.wordpress.com/2024/01/21/jusjojan24-plants-%f0%9f%8c%b1-1-21-24/
If there’s one thing I have plenty of photos of it has to be plants.

…probably one of my favourite shows
On Wednesday I spent four hours helping with the installation for the Black and White Show at Women’s Art. I love camaraderie when working with this talented group of women. It’s a beautiful show and I hope those of you who live close by will come downtown to check it out.

…winter has officially been dubbed as Weird Duck Season
Winter has officially become the season of the duck, thanks in part to Rosemary Mosco’s comic about weird winter ducks! Each winter, the Great Lakes is inundated with a great variety of waterfowl (over 30 species!) as ducks, geese and swans use our region as their winter getaway.
Last weekend, when my daughter and daughter-in-law came to visit we went for a walk down to the waterfront and discovered hundreds of ducks close to the water’s edge. My daughter quickly pointed out that a large group of them were Long-tailed ducks that have migrated from the Arctic and have settled onto Lake Ontario for the winter. It was fun watching them that day. The waves were high but these ducks seemed to relish the rough conditions. They dove into the waves and almost seemed to being surfing.

Unfortunately I only had my iPhone with me and I couldn’t get any close-ups of the Long-tailed ducks so I found this video on YouTube to share with you.
