Temperatures are Still Below Normal
….so the snow is still on the ground
Earlier in the week we experienced a snow storm that broke all kinds of records for November 12th. Usually when snow falls this early it doesn’t last more than a day but there was a lot of it and the seasonal temperatures are well below normal. The seasons are all confused. There are still leaves on the trees but today many of them decided it was time to come down. It’s quite strange seeing leaves on top of snow.

The snow certainly has put some people in the Christmas spirit and decorations are starting to appear in the city.

Friendly Friday – Whereabouts
….thanks to Snow for hosting this week’s Friendly Friday

where or approximately where.“whereabouts do you come from?”

the place where someone or something is.“his whereabouts remain secret”Similar:location, position, site, place, situation, locality, spot, point, placement, locale, neighborhood, vicinity, home, address, bearings, orientation, locusMy whereabouts is my neighbourhood as it transitions from autumn to winter. Blue skies and warm temperatures are appearing less frequently and are being replaced with rain and cooler temperatures. We’re enjoying the final days of autumn flowers. Gardens are being put to bed as the leaves begin to fall and blanket the roads with reds and yellows.

Nature Walk
….on the weekend I took a stroll to the naturalized park close to home
It’s not often that our dog, Frances wants to go for long walks anymore. She’s almost 13 and she sleeps most of the day. On occasion, however, when she does want to go for a walk she’s seems to find the energy to make her way to Col. Sam Smith Park. On warm days she likes to go for a swim from one of the three beaches in the park but last weekend the water was a little too green for my liking so I didn’t tempt fate and kept her on her leash.
I love this time of year with the colours changing. Plants are producing berries and seed heads and the grasses are turning brown with lovely seed tops swaying in the wind. The bees are very active these days and the birds are getting ready to migrate. Here are a few of my favourite sightings from my walk last weekend.

Friendly Friday Photo Challenge – Raindrops

I adore photos of raindrops. Since we’ve only just seen the last of our snow I had to dig into the archives for these photos.

View From My Window
….on Tuesday there were still quite a few leaves left on the trees
Since Tuesday we’ve had high winds and a fair bit of rain. I was sure that most of the leaves would be gone within a day or two but there are surprisingly some very stubborn trees in the neighbourhood that are still showing off some beautiful colours.
Today was another windy, cold and wet day. From my window I could see that there are definitely fewer leaves and there were some serious white caps on the lake.
