Young Hee Sung has created implied textures in her paintings by using tiny dots, large swirls of colour and broken lines or dashes. Her show at the Assembly Hall in South Etobicoke is called Sunrise, Sunset.

…day 67 of my art challenge

I so wanted to draw every day but since I started on January 11, 2025, 90 days have passed and I’ve posted for 67 days.

Rather than beat myself up I’m going to celebrate what I’ve done and not focus on the days I’ve missed.

I have an account with Creative Bug and after a long absence I went back to check out the new demos and classes for inspiration. I’ve started playing with more lettering and for today’s post I went back to my watercolour crayons and experimented combining florals with portraits.

…5 Day Creative Adventure – Art of Flow

I watched day 4 of Gabbi’s Art of Flow earlier this evening. Instead of painting on a canvas I decided to start in my art journal.

On day one I activated the empty pages with writing and then covered it with water colour so that the writing would still show through.

On day two I applied marks with hand made stencils and white and black paint markers.

On day three I added more marks and shading with pencil.

On day three I added another colour with watercolour crayons.

Not sure if I’ll take this much further. Maybe I’ll try this on canvas next.
