Going back to 2018 when we were in London, England I spent a few days at the V&A, exploring the art, the architecture and the special exhibitions. I even spent some time there drawing the sculptures. Here are two shots for past squares of circles.

Two iconic roof tops in Toronto are both on museums. The first one is an addition to the oldest museum in the city, the ROM and the second one is on one of Toronto’s newest museums, the Aga Khan Museum.

There are 4 years of Becky’s Square Challenges with 12 topics. This month we’re looking back at the prompts from past years and we can choose any photo as long as it is square. For Day 1 I’m going back to Lines and I’ve chosen the architectural lines in the hallways at the McMichael Gallery.

Today my daughter, Andrea and I drove to Kleinburg to visit the McMichael Canadian Collection of Art and the spectacular grounds that the gallery is built on. We lucked out with the weather and were able to walk around the property before we entered the gallery. Located on 100 acres of forested land along the Humber River, the McMichael is a major public gallery uniquely devoted to collecting the art of Canada.

I was just commenting to a friend the other day that it was a shame how early the pools and splash pads close here in the city. The day after Labour Day all the outdoor pools close for the season. I’m sure one of the reasons has to do with the fact that most of their staff consist of students who have to go back to school.
Well colour me surprised today when I found out that the splash pad at Marie Curtis Park still has its water feature working. Just hit the button and all the fountains and water sprayers start to flow. What a great find, especially on a warm day like today.

Last week Kevin and I took a trip to Guelph to give our granddaughters a tour of the university where we met and went to school. The girls will be going there in the fall. We had a great day and hope to make many more trips in the next few years.
I focused on the older buildings because they have so much more charm and character. The residences that were once all male or all female are now co-ed. The girls are actually in their second year so they didn’t qualify to live on campus because the residences are for first year students only. Last year all their classes were on-line so they studied from home.

Dan is off this week and will be back August 5th.
