Bark With an Attitude – Tree Square

….thanks to Becky B for hosting Tree Square for the month of July https://beckybofwinchester.com/2021/07/12/tree-square-12/

This is my contribution for July 12, 2021. I love the bark on trees. The textures are so interesting and sometimes there are cool patterns throughout the tree.

Tree Square – July 9, 2021

thanks to Becky B for hosting Tree Squares for the month of July, https://beckybofwinchester.com/2021/07/09/tree-square-9/

Many parts of Ontario are infested with Gypsy Moth caterpillars this year. High Park was over-run with them two weeks ago and last week the trees around our cottage were covered with them. Unfortunately they chew through the leaves and can completely defoliate a tree.

The photo on the bottom was taken at High Park earlier this week. Normally this time of year the canopy is so dense that you wouldn’t be able to see the pond from that vantage point.

Tree Square – July 7, 2021

….thanks to Becky B for hosting Tree Square https://beckybofwinchester.com/2021/07/07/tree-square-7/

I can’t believe that I forgot about the square challenge for July and it’s about trees. Those of you who know me know how much I love to photograph trees. I’m going to make up for being late by posting a bunch of trees today.

My Husband’s Bright Idea

thanks to Becky B for hosting BrightSquare https://beckybofwinchester.com/2021/04/22/bright-square-22/

Last Saturday my husband surprised me with another date night. We both got dressed up to enjoy a delicious dinner that a local restaurant partially prepared and delivered to our door. Most of the courses are completely prepared and only need to be heated up or finished in the oven and the pasta is measured but needs to be cooked at home. My husband loves to cook so none of this is a chore for him and he loves to plate food. One of the best parts of this meal is that all the proceeds go to charity and this group of young professionals donates the money to St. Joe’s Health Care Centre.

Not only was this a bright idea but it was also the bright spot or highlight of my week. Here are a bunch of square photos that should make up for the days I’ve missed.

My Bright Spot for the Week

….I thoroughly miss baking at the inn twice a week

It’s been more than a year now that the bakers and I at Montgomery’s Inn have gotten together to make and bake bread. I miss the friendships and the actual physical attributes of making dough and baking bread in a wood burning oven.

My one bright spot of the week is when I can drive to the inn to pick up fresh vegetables, eggs and meat from the Farmers’ Market. For the last two weeks the vendors have been able to set up outside. This week I took time to walk around the Inn and enjoy the views.

These New Bulbs Have a Bright Future in my Garden

….thanks to Becky B for hosting BrightSquare https://beckybofwinchester.com/2021/04/13/bright-square-13/

Last fall two close friends gifted me 50 narcissus bulbs to plant in my front yard. Liz came over and helped my plant the bulbs around the tree, the hydro pole, along the wall and in the flower bed. They started to emerge last February and are just about ready to bloom.

The flowers are a remembrance to my father who passed away last October. Hopefully they should pop up every spring. If they are anything like my daffodils this year they will probably multiply over the years.
