Most of my winter garden consists of decaying plant material but I do have some green plants that don’t seem to mind the cold winter.

….after I filled up the bird feeder
I sat still on the deck hoping to capture some birds at the feeder but they stayed away when they saw me sitting there. There were however, a few critters that didn’t seem bothered by my presence.
Why Your Carrots Need to be Separated
….when they first come up through the ground
Today I pulled the carrots from our garden. They were certainly an interesting collection of sizes and shapes. I think our raised garden beds need to be higher and separating the seedlings at the beginning of the summer would have been beneficial to producing more normal shaped carrots.
