…finally braved the weather and got out for a walk

I have never worked in a large format before and I was determined to give it a go. I bought two blank canvases that were 30″x40″ and when put together as one piece I would have met the minimum requirements for the show “A Large Art Affair”. When I got home and hauled the canvases to my small studio I realized that my small space wouldn’t allow me to paint on such a large surface. So for now, my purchase sits in the hallway outside my bedroom. I’m hoping in the summer when the weather warms up and we can open the outdoor studio again, my husband will let me share his space. The other option is to paint up at the cottage where I have lots of room.
In the meantime, the show “A Large Art Affair” has been installed and is now open to the public. Here is a sampling of what the Dignam gallery has in store for the visiting public.

….join me by sharing your favourite photos of trios
Some of my favourite tools are very unconventional, like the twig and the toothbrush but I love them because they give me such interesting marks.

I love textures and the closer you get to plant material you can find some very interesting textures from fluffy to spiky. Todays photos feature a spiky seed pod and a Queen Anne’s Lace flower in its final stage. The flower gets stranger looking as it goes through its metamorphosis. My husband thought it actually looked creepy. I guess if you don’t know what it is, it does look like something is crawling out of it.
