Mythical Beast and Spooky Tree

…days 98 and 99 of the 365 Days of Art

Over the last two days I’ve gone back to my 500 Daily Drawing Prompts journal to create two more sketches. The first one I did was the spooky tree which was fun to do but I feel like I relied too heavily on an image I found on Google. The second sketch, the mythical beast, was my own creation. I did search the web for some ideas and came up with this flying serpent.IMG_2207

Playing With Complementary Colours

….day 97 of 365 Days of Art

A couple of days ago I was watching a video on YouTube on how complementary colours ‘vibrate’ when placed next to each other. Jean Lurssen does a series of watercolour videos with exercises that help the painter loosen up and experiment with a number of different techniques. Check her out.

One Hot Mess

….day 96 of 365 days of art

Not everything that I paint or draw will be pretty. In this piece I finally got back to playing with ink and watercolour and experimenting with how they interact. You can see that I got a little carried away but I wanted you to see that I haven’t given up on my personal art challenge.IMG_2205

Flags, Tattoo, Family Crest

….day 95 of the 365 Days of Art

I’ve started my day by drawing in my new art journal 500 Drawing Prompts. Today the prompts are flags, tattoos and family crest. I drew the flag from memory, the crest I made up and the tattoo I referenced from Google. Unfortunately you can see how the pen from the previous drawing has bled through. I’ve switched to Micron pens and that seems to help.IMG_1876

365 Days of Art – Waterfall and Wizard’s Staff

….day 93

My new art journal has 500 drawing prompts. Right now I’m starting from the beginning and doing them in order. Not sure why, it’s just a thing that I do. My daughter also gave me a package of Micro-line pens but I discovered that they bleed through to the other side so I have to either use a lighter hand or switch to pencil.IMG_1845

I See a Bird and a Piano!

….a piano????

This is day 92 of my 365 Days of Art challenge. In my last posting I told you about Carla Sonheim’s challenge More is More. This is my second attempt at taking a piece of art that I wasn’t thrilled with and adding more paint. For this one I was a bit more whimsical and started to add some funny little character drawings throughout. I sent the finished piece via WhatsApp to my granddaughter and asked her what she saw. Her reply was ‘a bird and a piano’.

Here is the original art followed by the new piece. What do you see?fullsizeoutput_6d09
