I’m not sure what the expression means but I can see why you like it. Thanks Traudel.

It is Bavarian dialect: I don’t like the people who praise my beer and then don’t drink it up. 😋

Thank you for explaining it to me, Traudel. When I worked in Bavaria for a summer some of the locals loved using the dialect on me because they knew I didn’t understand them. One evening a young woman told off a couple of the men and told them to address in me proper German. By the way I was 19 at the time.

Bavaria, closed to Austria. Did you like Bavaria?

Yes it was right on the border of Austria. Bavaria has beautiful views but I have to admit that my first month there was difficult. I worked 7 days a week and only had Sunday afternoons off. After I finished my morning shift I took a bus tour every Sunday just to get away and see something new. I was also there during the Munich Olympics so my boss gave me a day off on my birthday and I took a train to Munich where I met an older cousin who took me to the Olympic village.

That is a lot to work, but I guess in these days… I remember I also had to work too many hours – in Bavaria! I was in Munich a week before the Olympics to see all the facilities. I knew a girl who worked as hostess and she showed us around.
