…inspiration from Draw Yourself Calm by Amy Maricle
Slow drawing is very relaxing.

…Days 59 and 60 of my daily art challenge
BB Bash suggested that we could use hand stitching to demonstrate repetition. I’ve been using hand and machine stitching in my art for awhile. The hand stitching on this black card stock was very loose.
The crocheted hat is a continued repetition of half double crochet stitches.

…the theme for Lesson 3 for BB Bash
Over the years I have learned to save my scraps from my collage projects. I’ve put down many layers for these two ‘scrap’ pieces’. I had no plan or theme in mind. It was completely intuitive.

I also put a couple of my Fantasy Art pieces onto cards.

…days 51 to 53

After reading the book The Dictionary of Lost Words I was inspired to create a double spread of collage and sketches that highlight some of the themes from Pip Williams’ book. The novel covers the making of the Oxford dictionary, protests by the suffragettes, World War 1, women as second class citizens, birth, death and romance.

…catching up ….sketching in my art journal
I haven’t posted my art pages in over a week. It’s not that I haven’t been making art but I have been reading a lot, playing bridge, going to a birthday party for 1 year old twins, participating in Book Club, attending an afternoon concert and shopping for mats so I can frame some of my art.
The following two pieces are all sketches

Days 50, 51 and 53 are coming tomorrow.
…this little book inspired today’s sketch
Elisabeth Bailey’s outlook on life changed when a friend gifted her a pot of violets into which she placed a wild snail. She was suffering from a mysterious disease which left her bedridden and separated from her from the natural world. This tiny creature helped her reconnect with life and she slowly started to heal.

…I’m loving working on these fantasy creatures
