Every large city in Italy seems to have a Duomo or cathedral. These two doors are from the Duomo in Florence.

Love the doors but why are they shut?

Italy certainly has no shortage of grand doors and entrances!! Sadly, when I was in Florence many years ago, I couldn’t get close to the Duomo – between the scaffolding for renovations and the thick crowds. Loved seeing the doors up close in your photos!

I’m glad that you can see now how I feel regarding the doors around here. 🙂 Magnificent!

The duomo in Florence is a fabulous building from the outside (didn’t get inside) with its different coloured marbles and dramatic doors. I don’t think I’d ever seen anything quite like it and took loads of photographs despite it being so busy.
